GALAX SNPR RGB Gaming Mouse Pad Review

On this review, we are taking a look at the GALAX SNPR RGB Gaming Mouse Pad. This is no ordinary surface, coming in hot with RGB LED support and a few more niceties. There are tons and tons of RGB enabled gaming mouse pads on the market right now, so let us see what the GALAX SNPR has to offer.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:

PACKAGING AND BUNDLED ACCESSORIES:

The packaging looks nice and robust enough to keep the mouse pad protected. Nothing to complain here.

The GALAX SNPR comes with a small manual describing how to customize the mouse pad. We are not expecting any accessories here so everything’s good I suppose.

THE GALAX SNPR RGB GAMING MOUSE PAD:

The GALAX SNPR is a premium mouse pad and it should be at around 2, 200 Pesos. The SNPR is also a large one, featuring a width of 342 mm (13.4″) and a height of 280 mm (11″). Make sure you have enough room on your desk.

Thickness is around the 4.5 mm mark which is not that bad of a deal if you’re used to thinner pads. The surface material however is built for speed and is more akin to a blunt hi-grit sand paper.

LED control is located at the top panel, with a main button to change lighting modes and a secondary button to tune the effects. Profile is low enough for a snag-free operation.

Cable is rather thick at 3 mm, while the length is around 1.5 meters. The USB port is gold plated and while I like it, the actual size of the strain relief is around 12 mm. Too thick for most motherboards with parallel USB ports.

LIGHTING OPTIONS:

There are 7 lighting mode options available within the GALAX SNPR. That includes a wave, spectrum, breathing, tetris, simple back-light and scanning. The secondary function is used to scroll between the lighting mode’s options or colors to be precise.

While the GALAX SNPR lacks brightness control, it makes up for a good light show across all available effects. It’s not too bright and not too dim – just right for my well being. Still, a brightness adjustment option is an ideal feature.

THE VERDICT:

The GALAX SNPR is a beautiful mouse pad both turned on and off. It is of course better turned on since you’re paying a huge sum for that RGB feature. Build quality is top notch too, so it’ll definitely last you a long time even with abuse.

Since the GALAX SNPR features a speed geared surface, expect it to glide your mouse faster than any control pads. I am not really used to this kind of surface, but playing with the SNPR for over a week allowed me to face my fear. This is not a bad surface though and take note that everyone do not prefer speed over control. My brother for an instance is a sucker for speed surfaces. You’ll either see him playing on an aluminum surface, or something around the lines of the GALAX SNPR. To each his own.
