An Italian footballer was left confused and angry after a car wash worker drove his brand new Ferrari into a safety barrier and five parked cars, for good measure, leaving the supercar utterly ruined.
Genoa goalkeeper Federico Marchetti was off training with the Serie A club on Monday (Jan 11) and had apparently left his prized possession in the care of the local car wash, but returned to find the car in a decidedly different condition to how he left it.
The £300,000 Ferrari, which can achieve 0-62mph in a mind-blowing 2.9 seconds, seems to have been a bit much for the car wash worker to handle, with the 812 Superfast boasting a 780bhp, 6.5-litre V12 engine with a top speed of 211mph.
Photos from the scene in Genoa show the vehicle with its front caved in as police and recovery workers attend to it. Luckily for everyone involved, the red-faced driver walked away unharmed, and Marchetti did show forgiveness with a message on Instagram.
Marchetti wrote: “I am very sorry about what happened. Thank God no-one was hurt, and that is the most important thing.”
The Italian international goalkeeper added, “I've read a lot of bad stuff written. Let's leave it alone – I hope I won't have to read it anymore.”
