Kia Motors has rolled out the first batch of Kia Carens from its Anantapur facility in Andhra Pradesh. That being said, Kia Motors has high expectations for the Kia Carens and the company is planning to increase the annual capacity of its manufacturing plant.
This will be beneficial for Kia as the company is one of the fastest-growing automobile brands in India with successful product launches such as the Kia Seltos, Kia Sonet and Kia Carnival.
In order to increase the production capacity of Kia’s manufacturing plant in Anantapur, the South Korean automobile company is planning to do three shifts in its Anantapur facility to reach the maximum production capacity of 3 lakh units per year.
Speaking about Kia Carens, it is the 4th model in the South Korean company’s product portfolio for India and the vehicle will be soon launched in one of the most demanding automobile sectors of the Indian automotive market.
At a glance, the Kia Carens looks very upmarket and stylish with its sleek split headlamps and Y-shaped DRLs. Thanks to its diamond-cut alloy wheels and chrome elements, the Kia Carens is designed to attract customers.
Like other Kia vehicles, we expect the upcoming Kia Carens to be packed to the brim with all the latest features the company can lay its hands on, such as the Kia’s UVO connected car tech, 10.25-inch infotainment unit with Apple Car Play and Android Auto, electric sunroof, ambient lighting and many more. Apart from that, the Kia Carens will also feature 6 USB-C ports, so all the occupants can charge their digital devices at the same time.
Powering the Kia Carens will be the same engine options that power the smaller Kia Seltos. This means the upcoming 7-seater Kia MPV will get the tried-and-tested 113bhp 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine, 114bhp 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine and the punchy 138bhp 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
The Kia Carens could also carry the same transmission options like the Kia Seltos, which means the Kia Carens may feature transmission options such as 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, 6-speed iMT and a 7-speed DCT.
When launched, the Kia Carens MPV will be positioned between the Kia Seltos and the Kia Carnival on the company’s product line-up for India and it will compete against the likes of vehicles such as Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700.
We expect Kia to launch the Carens before the end of February 2022 and price the vehicle competitively.
Thoughts About The Kia Carens
It looks like the Kia Carens will be very successful in India as the vehicle features an attractive yet very safe design language and like every Kia, this one will also be loaded with features.
