According to the recall notice (Recall No. S2026M0082V), the company will recall 33,473 Xpeng X9 vehicles produced between August 8, 2023, and August 11, 2025. The recall is scheduled to officially commence on August 28, 2026. The recall stems from manufacturing fluctuations that compromised the airtightness of the front air springs. Xpeng warned that prolonged use in high-temperature and high-humidity environments could lead to slow air leaks in the front air suspension. This failure typically triggers dashboard warning lights and text alerts. In extreme cases, the leak may impair the vehicle’s handling, posing a significant safety risk to drivers. To resolve the issue, Zhaoqing Xpeng New Energy Investment Co., Ltd. will provide a free replacement of the improved front air spring slide pillar assembly for all affected vehicles. Vehicles that have already received the upgraded parts prior to the recall will not require further action. Some owners reported that the vehicle’s chassis would collapse on one side or entirely while driving. In previous responses to these issues, Xpeng customer service attributed some warnings to a “thermal protection” mode, explaining that frequent height adjustments in high temperatures could cause the compressor to overheat. However, the official recall now acknowledges a hardware defect related to airtightness rather than mere thermal protection. The Xpeng X9, marketed as an “ultra-intelligent large seven-seater,” entered the market in January 2024 with a price range of 359,800 yuan (52,900 USD) to 419,800 yuan (61,700 USD). The model is available in both pure electric and extended-range electric versions. For the first half of 2026, the X9 recorded cumulative sales of 13,324 units. This is another large-scale recall by Xpeng in less than a year, last September, the company recalled 47,490 P7+ cars due to an issue with the power steering motor.
