Image: XpengThe vehicle has been available in Germany since May, where deliveries will start this month. Now, a family in Norway was among the first European customers to receive the vehicle, according to information shared by Xpeng Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng.Xpeng had already launched the X9 in its home market of China in autumn 2023; it is the manufacturer’s seventh model and the first in the X series. It combines an 800-volt platform, 5C fast-charging technology and rear-wheel steering, as the Chinese carmaker continues to expand its international footprint. There are two battery sizes to choose from, as well as front-wheel and all-wheel drive. Buyers can choose between three configurations:XPENG X9 FWD Standard Range with a 94.8 kWh LFP battery, 235 kW front-wheel drive and a range of up to 535 kilometres (WLTP combined), priced from €77,600XPENG X9 FWD Long Range with a 110 kWh NMC battery, 235 kW front-wheel drive and a range of up to 615 kilometres (WLTP combined) at prices starting from €81,600XPENG X9 AWD Performance: with a 110 kWh NMC battery, 370 kW all-wheel drive and a range of up to 580 kilometres (WLTP combined) at prices starting from €86,600Charging power is particularly high, peaking at 537 kW for the smaller battery and 542 kW for the larger one. This charging power is currently higher than that of most charging stations, as most are limited to 400 kW at the latest. However, with systems such as the Alpitronic HYC1000, the first charging stations supporting such high CCS power ratings have been on the market for some time – it’s just that they are not yet widely available. Thanks to the high charging power, it is possible to charge from 10 to 80 per cent in just twelve minutes – provided, of course, that the charging station supports 537 or 542 kW. A charge from 20 to 80 per cent is then said to be possible in ten minutes. The AC charging power, for example at a home wallbox, is 11 kW, which should allow a battery level that has dropped to just 5 per cent to recharge to 100 per cent in eleven hours.Other features include a small turning circle, which, at just 10.8 metres, is said by Xpeng to be on a par with that of a compact car. Assistance systems such as the intelligent AI-controlled parking and exit aid, the 360-degree camera system and the transparent chassis are designed to further simplify manoeuvring.Heat pump and multi-zone climate controlStandard equipment includes 20-inch alloy wheels, a sound system with 27 speakers, smart navigation and multi-zone climate control with intelligent air purification. Also on board is a heat pump, which contributes to efficient temperature control in the cabin and thus to a long range.Inside, the vehicle features a digital instrument cluster behind the heated steering wheel, a central 17.3-inch touchscreen, a 21-inch head-up display and a 21.4-inch Ultra-3K HD entertainment screen mounted in the roof lining at the rear. The European rollout comes as Xpeng’s overseas business continues to gain momentum. According to Chinese media, the carmaker exported a record 6,503 vehicles in May, an increase of 80.4 per cent compared to the same month last year. Exports accounted for 20.2 per cent of total deliveries during the month.cnevpost.com
