XPeng Malaysia’s 2028 Streategy Addressing local completely knocked-down (CKD) operations, Chen said XPeng plans to make the updated X9 its second locally assembled model in the country. The XPeng X9 is currently sold in Malaysia as a completely built-up (CBU) imported vehicle. While the company has not announced a production timeline for the locally assembled version, industry expectations are that local manufacturing will begin within this year. Just last Friday, partner EPMB rolled the first locally assembled XPeng G6 off the production line at its Melaka facility, making it the first XPeng model manufactured in Malaysia. Locally assembled Xpeng G6 rolled off line in Malaysia In December last year, XPeng officially selected EPMB as its local manufacturing partner. Going forward, the battery-electric X9 and future models equipped with XPeng’s PowerX extended-range powertrain system will be produced alongside the G6 at the same facility. Beyond manufacturing, XPeng plans to establish a local research and development team and advance development work related to intelligent driving technologies. The ADAS calibration equipment used for vehicles in Malaysia will follow the same standards as those deployed at XPeng’s global smart manufacturing facilities. XPeng Malaysia’s 2028 Streategy Chen also disclosed that XPeng will cooperate with the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) to support the establishment of automotive semiconductor and chip R&D centers. On the retail side, XPeng plans to initially establish 18 3S dealerships in key regions before expanding the network to 30 locations by 2028, covering major markets nationwide. Charging infrastructure is also a key part of the plan. By 2028, XPeng intends to build more than 80 branded charging stations and over 1,800 DC fast-charging points across Malaysia, while introducing 1,000 kW megawatt-class ultra-fast charging technology. XPeng Malaysia’s 2028 Streategy in charging network After-sales services have likewise been incorporated into the long-term roadmap. By 2028, XPeng plans to establish 30 service centers and three battery repair centers in Malaysia. The company also aims to increase parts availability from the current 95% to 99%, enabling most replacement components to be delivered to service locations within 24 hours. From a broader international perspective, Malaysia has become one of XPeng’s most important localized production hubs in Southeast Asia. The company previously stated that it aims to double overseas sales in 2026 from 2025 levels to 90,000 vehicles. Over the next five years, XPeng plans for overseas markets to contribute 50% of both group sales volume and total profits.
