The Range Rover SV Ultra Is a $255K Ultra-Luxe SUVLand Rover (Land Rover)Land Rover on Wednesday revealed a new mega-expensive and luxurious range topper model for its lineup: the 2027 Range Rover SV Ultra. Billed as “the most exquisite interpretation of Range Rover luxury and distinction,” this SV model goes beyond the others with a starting price of $255,250. That’s well over double the price of a base Range Rover, and over $30,000 more than the already-extravagant standard SV trim. The powertrain is obviously the best you can get in a Range Rover today, as it makes use of the P615 V-8—the BMW-borrowed 4.4-liter twin-turbo V-8 that produces a thumping 606 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. (An electric SV Ultra model is coming later this year for those who might prefer it.) But while the power is certainly there, but the SV Ultra is more about luxurious extravagance than anything else.Range Rover says it developed a new Titan Silver exterior paint finish (seen at the top of this post) exclusively for the Ultra model. It’s designed to look like metal in liquid form, and uses fine aluminum flake in the paint and a unique pigment technology to give it a mirror-like quality. The SUV also boasts 23-inch wheels with Satin Platinum inserts to set the Ultra apart on the outside.Land Rover (Land Rover)Most of your extra money spent on the SV Ultra goes towards the inside, though. Curiously, Range Rover ditched leather and instead developed a new “Ultrafabrics” interior finished in a two-tone Orchid White and Cinder Grey. It has a fancy mosaic pattern on the surface that Land Rover applies for the first time to this Ultra. The funky upholstery is paired with a “rattan palm veneer” trim that’s modified with an Orchid White tint in an effort to emphasize the open-pore texture.AdvertisementAdvertisement“Our choice of Ultrafabrics over leather was intentional; its engineered softness allows for the fine laser‑crafted pattern and intricate perforation that defines the interior,” said Phoebe Lindsay, Range Rover’s materiality manager.Land Rover (Land Rover)Beyond the fanciful new materials all around you, the SV Ultra introduces a new Electrostatic Sound system that (for now) is being offered exclusively on this model. Unfortunately, the $255,250 base price isn’t enough, as you’ll need to cough up an extra $12,570 for the option. That said, the 21-speaker sound system feels like a required box to check, as Land Rover’s description has us salivating at the chance to hear the difference between its Electrostatic system and a traditional speaker setup.“Designed to transmit natural, clear audio with detail and precision, each electrostatic speaker contains an ultra‑light, ultra‑responsive membrane just 1mm thick,” Land Rover’s press release states. “The membrane sits between two perforated metallic plates across which an audio signal is applied, responding up to 1000 times faster than a traditional speaker, for the kind of immersive, crisp and detailed sound stage normally experienced in a studio or through the finest headphones—with minimal vibration or distortion.”This system works in concert with the in-seat and footwell transducers introduced on other Land Rover SV models, so there won’t be many parts of your body left that don’t physically feel the sound at this point. If you want an SV Ultra, it’s already available to configure and reserve on Range Rover’s website. You Might Also LikeIf You Can Only Own One Car, Make It One of TheseThese Are the Most Popular Cars by State
