Marked as the fifth 'Rover in the family, the brand's new EV has got people talking, not only because it's a stark contrast to the mild-hybrid and ICE powertrains that Land Rover is known for, but also because it's going to be the least "Land Rover" of the bunch. The new Range Rover GT takes on a silhouette similar to a Tesla Model Y, and it's going to be the most road-going Land Rover in the lineup when it drops. However, you could probably say that it'll be the most off-road-ready GT in the world.… Is Still a Land RoverFor the doubters who thought that Land Rover was getting soft, the brand just released a teaser that showcases the off-road chops of its pre-production Range Rover GT. Even the brand admits that it's the most car-like silhouette that it's created, but that doesn't mean that it's not gonna be able to do "Land Rover things."AdvertisementAdvertisementEssentially, the teaser says "nay" to the naysayers. This GT can still kick up sand and throw snow like the other members of its family. Another thing we can pick apart from this teaser is that Land Rover was able to translate its off-road experience and technology into an all-electric platform, so even if it is a more GT-focused product from Land Rover, it'll still have Sand, Snow, and other all-terrain modes (at least we assume there will be). While the modes and the powertrain's capabilities of the new EMA platform are still under wraps, what we know so far is that the fully electric Range Rover GT is just the tip of the spear, as Land Rover also hinted at a hybrid version of the Range Rover to follow.Land RoverAn Achilles Heel?Judging by the design in other teaser photos, one possible caveat of this all-terrain GT is that it might be a little too low for hardcore off-roading. However, given how Land Rover likes to play around with air suspension, and the wheel gap present in the teaser video on Instagram, we'll wait for a final reveal before we're fully impressed. One could consider this to be a soft-roader, but we're hoping that it'll be one of the more hardcore soft-roaders on the market when it drops. While it does still have some Land Rover D.N.A. in it, the GT looks like it'll live up to the "GT" in its name with its plush interior and its overall design. Large wheels, low-profile sidewalls, and a stance that could put other sedans to shame give us the impression that this will be one heck of a mile-muncher in an all-electric flavor.AdvertisementAdvertisementThe biggest question we have about the upcoming Range Rover GT is: "Is it trying to be too many things at once?" A jack of all trades and master of none doesn't always shine in the market, but I think it's best that we reserve our judgment until Land Rover delivers us the full and uncovered version of the GT.Land RoverView the 9 images of this gallery on the original articleThis story was originally published by Autoblog on Aug 27, 2026, where it first appeared in the News section.
