Image Credit: Land Rover. Most automotive recalls involve thousands or even millions of vehicles. Jaguar Land Rover's latest campaign is a little easier to keep track of because the affected population consists of precisely one Range Rover Sport. It's a 2026 model built on February 16, 2026. Somewhere in America, there's an owner who managed to get the one SUV included in NHTSA recall 26V607.The problem is small enough to affect a single vehicle, although the potential consequences aren't quite as amusing. A manufacturing defect inside its powertrain control module could cause the engine to stall without warning.According to the NHTSA recall report, the issue traces back to a circuit board that may have become misaligned during production. JLR will replace the entire module rather than leave its exceptionally exclusive recall participant to take any chances.Bosch Found The ProblemImage Credit: Land Rover. The investigation began with Bosch, which supplies the powertrain control module. The company identified a small number of modules produced with abnormal parameters and eventually determined that a circuit board inside them could be incorrectly positioned.JLR subsequently issued a quarantine notice for vehicles containing suspect modules so they could be inspected before delivery. Its investigation identified four vehicles fitted with affected components that had already reached customers.Interestingly, the NHTSA report lists only one vehicle in the recall population. JLR's filing doesn't provide a detailed explanation for why the other three delivered vehicles aren't included in this particular campaign. The Engine Could Stall Without WarningA misaligned circuit board inside the PCM can cause several problems, with an unexpected engine stall being the most serious. Losing propulsion while driving can increase the risk of a crash, particularly if it happens without any advance warning. There is some good news for our lone Range Rover Sport owner. JLR says it hasn't received any reports of accidents, injuries, or fires connected with the defect. The repair is also straightforward from the owner's perspective. A Land Rover dealer will replace the PCM free of charge, with the owner notification letter expected to be mailed on November 20.One Car, One RecallImage Credit: Land Rover. The tiny population makes this an unusual entry in JLR's recall history, especially alongside campaigns covering tens of thousands of vehicles. It also shows how narrowly manufacturers can identify production defects when component and assembly records are detailed enough. For the person driving that particular Range Rover Sport, there's at least some bragging potential hidden inside the inconvenience. Plenty of owners can say their vehicle has been recalled, but very few can say an entire NHTSA campaign exists specifically because of their car.If you want more stories like this, follow Guessing Headlights on Yahoo so you don't miss what's coming next.
