Range Rover Sport ElectricJLRRange Rover has taken the Sport into fully electric territory for the first time, introducing a model that aims to preserve the car's familiar character while shifting its powertrain into a new era. The Range Rover Sport Electric arrives with a focus on sharper responses, more immediate torque delivery and a chassis tuned to feel more alert than any version before it. UK prices start at £109,810 for the EV550 Dynamic SE, rising to £122,780 for the EV550 Autobiography and £126,290 for the EV550 First Edition.Although the move to electric power is significant, the company insists the Sport's identity hasn't changed. The new model retains the same assertive stance and quiet, long‑distance refinement, but now adds a more responsive electric drivetrain and a suite of chassis systems designed to make the car feel more agile. Range Rover says the electric motors and battery packaging have allowed engineers to extract quicker reactions from the car, helped by a lower centre of gravity and a stiffer body structure.Range Rover Sport ElectricTo demonstrate those claims, the Sport Electric completed a final development run in the Carrara marble quarries in Italy — a location previously used for the brand's more theatrical test pieces. The route between the quarry's 3,000‑ft peaks included steep gradients, loose marble dust and polished rock surfaces, providing a demanding backdrop for the car's off‑road systems. The Sport Electric's traction management, air suspension, active roll control and twin‑valve dampers were all tuned to deal with abrupt changes in grip, while rear‑wheel steering helped thread the car through tight hairpins without the usual multi‑point manoeuvres. The electric powertrain produces 550PS and 850Nm, giving the Sport Electric performance comparable to the outgoing V8 model when using its Dynamic Launch Mode. Range Rover quotes a 0–60mph time of 4.3 seconds, and says torque delivery is noticeably quicker than in the larger Range Rover Electric. The battery is a 118.5kWh unit housed in a reinforced aluminium enclosure, feeding two 260kW motors through an 800V electrical system capable of rapid charging. On a suitable DC charger, the car can take on 136 miles of range in around ten minutes, or charge from 10–80 per cent in roughly 22 minutes.Range Rover Sport ElectricOfficial WLTP range stands at up to 374 miles, with the brand suggesting around 333 miles is a realistic everyday figure. The car also introduces new thermal management technology designed to preserve performance in extreme temperatures, and every vehicle is paired with a digital "battery twin" that allows remote monitoring and predictive maintenance via software updates. The Sport Electric's body is 61 per cent stiffer than other versions of the model, and its battery placement drops the centre of gravity by 73mm. It will be built alongside petrol, diesel and plug‑in hybrid versions at Solihull. Range Rover says the car has undergone extensive durability testing, including multi‑axis vibration and shock tests at temperatures ranging from –40°C to +90°C.Visually, the electric model is distinguished by a more aerodynamic grille and wheel designs that contribute a small efficiency gain at motorway speeds. The First Edition comes in Zadar Grey with a satin finish, black roof and 22‑inch wheels, while an optional Black Pack and satin wrap are available across the range. Autobiography buyers can also access the brand's Bespoke commissioning service, offering expanded paint, trim and personalisation options.Order books are open now, with the Range Rover Sport Electric priced from £109,810 in the UK.
