Image Credit: Bring a TrailerIf you have ever wanted to own a piece of James Bond history and are an automotive enthusiast, we imagine you've probably wanted an Aston Martin DB5. However, one lucky person has recently walked away with something slightly different. Daniel Craig's stunning 1959 Land Rover.Yes, you did read that right. Bring a Trailer was fortunate enough to recently auction the former James Bond actor's gorgeous 1959 Land Rover, a car that belonged to him and his wife, Rachel Weisz. Making the car even more special was that it had a handwritten note left in it by Craig and Weisz for the next owner. There is no denying that this particular Land Rover was a thing of beauty. The SUV is finished in a stunning Bronze Green, with a rope winch and an Exmoor Trim canvas bed cover to give it that classic Land Rover look. Craig and Weisz had clearly looked after the car well.AdvertisementAdvertisementWhile the total mileage was unknown, the odometer read just 3,800, suggesting it's certainly not a high-mileage example. However, given who owned the car and the condition it is in, would you really care about the mileage?Craig's 1959 Land Rover Was in Immaculate ConditionImage Credit: Bring a TrailerThe Land Rover is finished in Bronze Green, which it was repainted into, hence the incredibly fresh finish. The Exmoor Trim canvas bed cover at the rear gives the Land Rover a campervan vibe. Some of the other neat exterior details include the grille-mounted horseshoe, rope winch and the fender-mounted side mirrors. A tell-tale sign of this car's age.Adding to the value of this amazing historic vehicle is the handwritten note from Craig and his wife. The note reads, "This is to say that this beautiful Land Rover Defender was ours. We sell it with great sadness. Please take care of it. Daniel & Rachel Craig." Craig loves his British cars and is naturally a fan of both Land Rover and Aston Martin. So it made sense for him to own the classic off-roader.Image Credit: Bring a TrailerThe interior of the off-roader is a far cry from what we see in modern cars. The cabin has three-across seating, with the seats trimmed in tan upholstery. There are seat belts, thankfully, and air conditioning is limited to some flow-through dash vents and sliding windows. It is very rudimentary and basic, but that is exactly what these cars were all about. And, as a classic Land Rover, it will be incredibly tough too. What Was Under the Hood of Craig's Land Rover?Sitting under the hood is a 2.25-liter inline-four engine, rated at 77hp and 124lb-ft of torque from the factory. The off-roader came with its recent service history, noting that a Carter carburetor and an electronic ignition system had been installed. It also said that the generator and various engine seals had been replaced. Like many old Land Rovers, this 1959 model came with a four-speed manual transmission.AdvertisementAdvertisementIf you haven't spoiled the surprise and looked too closely at the Bring a Trailer listing, you are probably wondering how much this car sold for. Well, the auction ended on August 27th, 2026, and it sold for $56,000. That might seem like a lot for an old Land Rover, as basic a car as you can get. But remember, this one used to belong to Daniel Craig. The man who played James Bond. If that doesn't add to the value of a car, then we don't know what will.If you want more stories like this, follow Guessing Headlights on Yahoo so you don't miss what's coming next.
