A software issue affects every new Tucson, regardless of powertrain. The recall covers 53,886 examples of the Tucson Hybrid alone. Some owners can resolve the issue through an OTA software update. Back in the days of analog gauges, faults were generally quite uncommon. The same cannot be said about the digital gauge clusters, which have proliferated in the automotive industry. Case in point, a wide-ranging recall issued for 96,310 Hyundai Tucsons in the United States. An NHTSA recall states that 2025-2026 Hyundai Tucson, Tucson Hybrid, and Tucson Plug-In Hybrid models may have an instrument panel that intermittently reboots while the vehicle is in use. Not only can this cause the display to go blank, but it may also prevent the head-up display from operating as it should. Hyundai is blaming the issue on a communication error between the cluster and the head-up display, triggered by a software logic problem. Which Models Are Affected? A total of 96,310 vehicles are impacted. These consist of 53,886 examples of the 2025-2026 Tucson Hybrid built from June 18, 2024, to May 7, 2026, as well as 39,605 examples of the 2025-2026 Tucson assembled between June 7, 2024, and April 30, 2026. A further 2,819 examples of the 2025-2026 Tucson Plug-In Hybrid are also affected, produced between July 9, 2024, and April 14, 2026. An investigation was launched into the fault in the third quarter of last year following a customer report of an intermittent instrument cluster issue in a Tucson HEV. Fortunately, there have been no reports of accidents or injuries triggered by the display going blank. Dealerships and owners will be notified of the recall on August 22. Owners will be able to take their Tucson to a local dealership to have a software update installed. Alternatively, those who have opted in to receive over-the-air updates through Hyundai Bluelink will be able to install the new software from the comfort of their home.
