Gasgoo Munich- A prototype of Dongfeng Motor's self-developed Mach Power P2.5 single-motor hybrid drive has officially rolled off the line at the automaker's R&D Institute.The system delivers a cost-effective all-wheel-drive layout through an optimized architecture, achieving AWD capability at a lower hardware cost. Compared with traditional P1+P3 dual-motor hybrid drives, it weighs 39% less — a significant lightweight advantage. Under typical driving conditions, the motor can decouple from the wheels, cutting drag losses and further reducing energy consumption per 100 kilometers. Rivals rely solely on range-extender mode when the battery is depleted. These advantages will support the expansion of Dongfeng's hybrid lineup. The project team will now focus on rigorous testing and calibration, tightening quality controls to turn technical gains into market competitiveness.Since its launch in 2021, the Mach Power brand has built a product matrix spanning ICE, hybrid, electric, and hydrogen powertrains. The new single-motor prototype reflects Dongfeng's push for architectural innovation in hybrid drives — and will further expand the Mach hybrid-electric lineup.
