Gasgoo Munich- Dongfeng eπ has secured over 10,000 pre-sale orders for its new M8 as of midnight, June 28. The model launched yesterday with a starting price of 199,800 CNY.Marking the first model following the strategic upgrade between Dongfeng eπ and Huawei Qiankun, the M8 integrates technology from Dongfeng Motor, Huawei Qiankun, and CATL. Positioned as the "Huapai Golden Standard Large Six-Seater," it is the first vehicle to feature Huawei Qiankun’s full six-piece intelligent suite.Image Source: Dongfeng eπAdopting a "Wind Rising, Cloud Spreading" design language, the M8 boasts a sweeping, commanding stance. Its roof features a 140mm smart blue light strip—a first—while the side mirrors, headlights, and taillights incorporate similar elements. Together, these nine interaction lights enhance the vehicle's tech aesthetic while serving as visual indicators for autonomous driving status.Dimensionally, the new model stretches into the 5-meter range with a wheelbase-to-length ratio of 60.3%, laying a solid foundation for interior space. Buyers will have their choice of five exterior colors, three interior trims, and three wheel designs. The M8 is among the first to feature Huawei Qiankun’s ADS 5 Pro autonomous driving system, backed by 27 perception hardware units. This includes the industry’s first in-cabin lidar vision sensor, Limera. Measuring just 11 by 3.8cm and mounted behind the windshield, the sensor uses a "single-lens, dual-mode" optical architecture to capture both 3D point clouds and 2D images simultaneously. It can detect irregular obstacles like traffic cones, cardboard boxes, and water barriers from 115 meters away, offering up to a 43% improvement in detecting 30cm targets compared to 120-line LiDAR.Rounding out the hardware suite are three 4D millimeter-wave radars, 11 high-precision cameras, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. Autonomous driving computations run on the WEWA 2.0 architecture, delivering 60 EFLOPS of cloud computing power backed by over 1 billion kilometers of training data. On the functional side, the system achieves an average takeover distance of over 1,500 kilometers on highway NCA, while city NCA navigates complex scenarios like roundabouts and narrow road encounters. Parking assistance covers 800,000 parking spaces nationwide.
