Gasgoo Munich- Dongfeng Stellantis Automotive Technology (Wuhan) Co., Ltd. was officially inaugurated on August 20 in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone, according to Dongfeng Motor. The venture is backed by six investors—Dongfeng Motor, Stellantis, Changjiang Industry Group, Wuhan Financial Holdings (Group), Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone Industrial Investment Group, and Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Company Ltd. The new company's scope covers vehicle R&D, industrial investment, and new-energy vehicle sales. Its initial roadmap includes four new models featuring both pure electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains. Designed for scenarios ranging from rugged off-roading to urban commuting and family travel, these vehicles are set to roll out starting in 2027.Since its inception 34 years ago, DPCA has sold more than 6.5 million Peugeot and Citroën vehicles. It stands as both a witness to the growth of Wuhan's automotive sector and a key pillar of economic cooperation between China and France.Breaking the traditional framework, this new joint venture model creates a synergy of "central state-owned enterprises, multinational giants, and industrial capital." Dongfeng Motor will spearhead core new-energy and intelligent connectivity technologies, Stellantis will contribute brand heritage and a global distribution network, and local industrial capital will leverage regional supply chain strengths. Liu Ziqing, a member of the Standing Committee of the Wuhan Municipal Party Committee, added that the establishment of Shenhong Technology will help consolidate Wuhan's status as a national automotive hub and explore new pathways for the transformation of joint-venture automakers.
