Elon Musk revealed more Tesla Robotaxi details, disclosing that it is scheduled to start mass production in the all-new Gigafactory Texas sometime in 2024.

Elon Musk and Tesla Robotaxi
The CEO and founder of Tesla, Musk, first mentioned the plans to produce a Robotaxi during the recent Cyber Rodeo event, which celebrated the grand opening of the Giga Texas.
The Tesla CEO also spoke about other future Tesla plans, including the Cybertruck, the Semi, and the Roadster.
As per a news story by Electrek, the billionaire tech entrepreneur announced that the EV maker is looking to produce a new futuristic-looking vehicle, a “dedicated robotaxi.”
During the Cyber Rodeo affair, the Tesla boss kept mum about any details regarding the new futuristic electric vehicle. Musk did not even spill any timeline for the upcoming Robotaxi in the Giga Texas event.
Tesla Robotaxi Mass Production Target
It appears that the Tesla founder is waiting for the first-quarter earnings call of the automaker until he shares more details regarding the new Tesla Robotaxi.
According to a recent report by Business Insider, the tech exec talked about the Tesla Robotaxi during its Q1 earning call with the investors of the EV maker.
Musk went on to disclose the production timeline on the Robotaxi, saying that the target for its volume production is in 2024.
Apart from its timeline, the Tesla founder highlighted that the Robotaxi lacks any steering wheel or pedals, noting that the upcoming futuristic-looking EV is “highly optimized for autonomy.”

As a result, the billionaire entrepreneur said that the Robotaxi is also “fundamentally optimized for trying to achieve the lowest fully considered cost per mile, cost per kilometer.”

Essentially, the tech giant CEO is saying that the Tesla Robotaxi is taking the price of commuting seriously, trying to make it cheaper than ever.
Electrek said in a separate news story that Musk also offered in the investor earnings call that the cost per mile of the Robotaxi is going to be cheaper than a bus ticket.
However, there is no way to confirm it just yet as the vehicle has yet to enter production for a real-life test to validate the conclusion of the Tesla CEO.
Nevertheless, Musk further believes that the upcoming Robotaxi that Tesla is planning to release in 2024 should serve as a major driver of the growth of the EV maker.
If the claim of Musk is to be believed that it is actually more inferior than a bus ticket, it sure does look that way. Let’s see what happens two years from now.
