When it comes to cars with a combo of acceleration and fuel economy, it’s not surprising that EVs will be at the top. That’s precisely why, according to Consumer Reports, EVs and hybrids dominate. For example, many EVs have a fuel economy that’s over 100 MPGe, and they, for the most part, also can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than 10 seconds.
One car with excellent fuel economy and a fast acceleration time is the Tesla Model 3. It has a fuel economy of 130 MPGe, and it can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds. Not everyone wants an electric car or hybrid, though, so Consumer Reports created additional lists covering other car market segments.
For example, in the pickup truck segment, the Hyundai Santa Cruz can get 24 mpg and go from 0 to 60 mph in just 6.6 seconds. However, one of the strongest competitors overall is the Hyundai Kona Electric Limited.
Here’s how the 2022 Hyundai Kona Electric Limited scored
The Hyundai Kona Electric Limited trim is one of the most fuel-efficient cars on Consumer Reports’ list. It has a fuel economy of 120 MPGe, which makes it tied for third place alongside the Chevy Bolt. On top of that, this Hyundai EV also has one of the fastest acceleration times out of all EVs on the list. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 6.6 seconds. This makes it second only to the Model 3 in terms of acceleration.
Unsurprisingly, the Hyundai did well on its road test, according to Consumer Reports. It got a score of 76 out of 100 there. Its performance is one of the car’s highlights, as its acceleration has a score of 4 out of 5. Its driving experience also received a high score of 90 out of 100. The car’s performance is largely thanks to its 201-hp electric motor.
There are many other reasons why the Kona Electric did so well in terms of its driving experience, and one of those reasons has to do with its range. The Kona Electric can get 259 miles on a single charge. Additionally, when customers opt for the Limited trim, they can get nice features that pair well with the car’s great driving experience.

The Hyundai Kona Electric’s Limited trim starts at about $42,000, according to Consumer Reports. This is an increase of over $8,000 from the Kona Electric’s standard price tag of $34,000 for the SEL trim. This trim of the Kona Electric adds features like heated and ventilated leather seats, a sunroof, and a bigger 10.25-inch touch screen display. Both the Kona Electric SEL and the Kona Electric Limited trims have a lot of standard safety features. However, Hyundai gave the Limited trim a few more extra safety features, including Hyundai’s Smart Cruise Control system.
