The new C-Series Edition comes to Citroen’s C3, C3 Aircross, C4, e-C4 and C5 Aircross models
Citroen has unveiled a new trim level called the C-Series Edition, replacing the former C-Series specification across the French brand’s core model ranges.
The C-Series Edition groups the most popular option packages together as standard equipment. Previously, the C-Series trim level was limited to C3 and C3 Aircross but it has now been extended to the C4, e-C4 and the recently updated C5 Aircross SUV.
Kicking off with the C3, the new C-Series Edition model features distinctive 16-inch Matrix alloy wheels, dark-tinted rear windows, as well as a contrasting bi-tone roof in either black or white. As with all C-Series Edition cars, C3 C-Series Edition features the Bronze Colour Pack, that includes bronze detailing around the front fog lights and Airbump capsules, plus ‘C-Series Edition’ badging on the front doors.
Electrically folding door mirrors, rear parking sensors and a reversing camera are also standard. The Visibility Pack adds automatic headlights, automatic windscreen wipers and front fog lights, while a seven-inch capacitive touchscreen featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility is also included.
There are two powertrains available on the C3 C-Series Edition. An 81bhp 1.2-litre PureTech petrol engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission, or a 109bhp version of the same unit that’s paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox.
The C3 Aircross C-Series Edition features a few distinctive details, including a bronze skid plate insert and bronze door mirrors. It also gets 16-inch ‘X Cross’ black alloy wheels, dark-tinted rear windows and 3D ‘C-Series Edition’ badging on the front doors. A 109bhp petrol with a six-speed manual transmission is the only drivetrain available.
Jumping up to the C4 and e-C4 the ‘Bronze Colour Pack’ features again, with bronze surrounds to the fog lights and on the Airbump panels, plus bronze ‘C-Series Edition’ badges on the wings. ‘Crosslight’ 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels are standard on the e-C4 with the petrol and diesel models receiving ‘Aeroblade’ alloys.
Inside, there’s a 10-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. A heated leather steering wheel and heated front seats also feature.
The all-electric e-C4 retains its 50kWh battery so a maximum WLTP-rated range of 219 miles is on offer along with 100kW rapid charging.
On the C4 the 128bhp 1.2-litre PureTech petrol can be had with a six-speed manual, or an eight-speed automatic transmission. The two diesels use Citroen’s 1.5-litre BlueHDi four-cylinder unit with either a six-speed manual for the 108bhp model or an eight-speed automatic for the 128bhp diesel.
Finally, the C5 Aircross C-Series Edition tops the line-up, sitting above the Shine trim level. Key exterior details consist of bronze detailing on the front bumper and the front doors, with ‘C-Series Edition’ badging on the wings as per other C Series models. It sits on 19-inch diamond-cut bi-tone ‘Art’ alloy wheels, and there’s also a black-coliured roof with a panoramic glass panel.
Just like the C4 C-Series Edition, there’s a 10-inch touchscreen inside with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, while Citroen’s Connect Nav sat-nav is fitted as standard, too. Other standard features include a wireless charging pad, Citroen’s Drive Assist Pack and the brand’s latest version of its Advanced Comfort Suspension.
Powering the C5 Aircross C-Series Edition is either the new 1.6-litre 178bhp petrol plug-in hybrid, which serves up a maximum electric-only range of 34 miles, a 128bhp 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol unit or a 128bhp 1.5-litre diesel; the latter two options come with a choice of six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmissions, while the PHEV is auto-only.
