All good things must come to an end and the 2024 model year will mark the end of Chevrolet’s Camaro production.

With a special Collector’s Edition that features a distinctive exterior paint colour honouring the car’s original Panther code name, the carmaker will mark the end of the sixth-generation model. It will be offered on the LT/RS, LT1, SS, and ZL1 trims.

In September 1966, the first-generation Camaro made its appearance. It was built as a two-door 2+2 in coupé and convertible variants for the 1967 through 1969 model years on a new rear-wheel drive GM F-body chassis.

The Camaro played a big role in pop culture especially Transformers as Bumblebee takes on the form of a modified 1967 Camaro in Transformers: Age of Extinction.

The Camaro also returns as a modified 2016 Camaro in Transformers: The Last Knight. So the end of the Camaro production means that we won’t see the little yellow transformer in any newer variants in the future unless there is a custom concept variant made specifically for the movie.

Only 350 units of the ZL1 Collector’s Edition will be produced by Chevrolet. It will have Panther Black Matte exterior paint, the first matte colour made available by the manufacturer for the Camaro. A black metallic stripe will be added by the firm to highlight the paint job.

Along with red callipers, it will also include a front splitter and rear wing from the ZL1 1LE coupe.

In contrast to the ZL1, the Collector’s Edition for the LT/RS, LT1, and SS trims is different. The lowest variants are painted with satin black accent stripes and Panther Black Metallic Tintcoat.

As for wheel, the limited edition Camaro will roll on 20-inch satin black forged wheels as standard, but polished ones are available as an option. The front splitter from the 1LE kit and the rear spoiler from the ZL1 will also be included in the pack.

There will be additional Panther branding on each Collector’s Edition Camaro. The “R” in the front script badging has a panther in it. The emblem for the steering wheel will also feature the big cat. Chevy will outfit each model with a distinct black interior and exclusive floor mats. The serial number of the Camaro ZL1 Collector’s Edition’s build sequence will be shown on the steering wheel emblem.

ustomers who purchase the ZL1 Collector’s Edition will also get a Shinola Canfield Sport 44mm watch and it will have the owner’s steering wheel badge’s serial number. The watch also features a panther engraved on the strap and the Camaro logo on the watch’s face. Each purchase of a Collector’s edition Camaro will get a welcome package that includes two Camaro posters.

Additionally, starting in 2024, Chevy will no longer offer the 2.0-liter inline-four turbocharged standard engine for the Camaro. The 335-hp 3.6-liter V-6, 455-hp 6.2-liter V-8, and of course the 650-hp supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 found in the ZL1 are the only remaining engines.

Accordingly, base pricing for the LT coupe and convertible jump to $32,495 (RM149,395) and $38,495 (RM176,980), respectively. The 1LT Collector’s Edition will cost $39,440 (RM181,325), the LT1 Collector’s Edition $47,385 (RM217,852), the 1SS Collector’s Edition $49,890 (RM229,369), and the ZL1 Collector’s Edition $89,990 (RM413,729).

The 2024 model is expected to start taking orders on June 15 and go into production until January 2024.
