The Chery Tiggo 9 petrol-powered SUV has reached Paris, France. It was tested on local roads and was displayed to French people. It is still unsure if Chery just made it for a PR-company, or they have some exporting ambitions for the French market. But later, the Tiggo 9 has also visited Switzerland and Italy.

As a result, Chery currently sells its vehicles in 80 countries and regions. The main markets for this brand are Chile, Brazil, Egypt and Russia. Nowadays, Chery vehicles are also sold in Italy under the DR brand. What is more, Chery has big plans for launching in such European markets as Germany and Spain with two new brands called Jaecoo and Omoda. Now, it looks like Chery also has some plans for the French and Swiss car markets.

Previously, we have reported that two Chery Tiggo 9 SUVs arrived in Luxembourg for some Chery needs. We suggested that they wanted to test the Tiggo 9 on local roads and check the Luxembourg automotive enthusiasts’ opinion on this vehicle. But it appeared that the Grand Duchy was only a starting point of the Tiggo 9’s journey. In fact, its destination point was 384 km away from Luxemburg – in Paris, France. Then, it arrived in Rome, Italy. And Switzerland became the end point of its journey. Let’s get to know some details about this trip.

First, we should mention that a famous Chinese automotive blogger, Yan Chuang, became a host and driver throughout this trip. He is quite well-known in China, with over 4.3 million followers in Weibo (Chinese social media). He travelled across Europe with the Chery team, visiting some key places. Their first stop was Paris. Here, Yan Chuang asked local people their opinion about the Tiggo 9 and underlined that there were quite a few French cars in the middle of Paris. Chery has already uploaded a short video about this location. Then, Yan Chuang travelled to Switzerland and Italy. In total, he spent 23 days I Europe.
Now, let’s discuss why Chery team members and Yan Chuang have visited these countries on the Tiggo 9. Of course, Chery has already made a video about its trip to France. In that clip, they showed some benefits of the Tiggo 9. We are sure that they will also made same videos about Italy and Switzerland. But we also think that Chery wants to enter French and Swiss markets with their products. And, of course, it wants to enhance its positions in Italy. However, there was no confirmation of this information from Chery’s side.

Recently, Chery has launched two new brands called Omoda and Jaecoo. Their official launch happened on April 18 at the 20th Shanghai Auto Show. In fact, the Omoda brand already sells its vehicles in such countries as Russia and Mexico. As for the Jaecoo, its first model is the Jaecoo 7, known in China as 探索06 (Tansuo 06, Seeker 06). According to official information, the Tiggo 9 will also become a part of the Jaecoo model line under the “Jaecoo 9” name.
Speaking about Omoda & Jaecoo brands in Europe, they are currently in the first stages of development. We know that these brands are already working in Italy, Spain and Germany. In Spain, they are currently choosing the local distributor. According to some internal sources, AutoGEX Group can possibly become the Omoda & Jaecoo distributor in Spain.
General information about Chery Tiggo 9
The Chery Tiggo 9 is a mid-size SUV with dimensions of 4820/1930/1699 mm and a wheelbase of 2820 mm. It stands on the M3X Mars 2.0 (also known as T2X) platform that also underpins Exeed Yaoguang (RX) and Exeed Lanyue (VX). Under the hood, the Tiggo 9 has a 2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol-powered ICE for 261 hp and 400 Nm. In the front-wheel drive modification of the Tiggo 9, this engine works in pair with a 7DCT. And the 4WD version got Aisin 8AT gearbox. As for the price range of the Tiggo 9, it is 152,900 – 203,900 yuan (21,500 – 28,800 USD).
