The new 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray packs AWD by joining its 495-horsepower 6.2L LT2 V8 with a 160-horsepower electric motor. That motor drives the front wheels, resulting in eAWD that gives drivers a lot more grip than traditional rear-wheel drive (RWD) applications.
In fact, the new E-Ray is the first AWD Corvette ever. As a result, the grippy ‘Vette is capable of snappy launches and intelligent proportioning of front wheel power. Consequently, the E-Ray is a track-happy application with enough mechanical grip to handle all-weather driving more so than a Stingray or Z06.

Is the new Corvette E-Ray quick?
One of the new hybrid Corvette E-Ray’s finest attributes is its raw, responsive acceleration. Chevrolet claims the E-Ray will hit 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds, making it quicker than the flat-plane Z06 and every other Corvette ever.
Moreover, the E-Ray will cover a quarter mile in 10.5 seconds. Car and Driver shows that the new hybrid model’s quarter-mile time is on par with its screaming sibling, the flat-plane crank V8-powered Corvette Z06. However, Chevrolet claims the 655-horsepower E-Ray will top out at around 180 horsepower, which is a far cry from the 200+ mph top speeds of some of the most exclusive hybrid hypercars, like the Ferrari SF90 Stradale.

In addition to six driving modes and a Charge+ mode that Chevrolet designed to maximize efficiency, the E-Ray has two electric driving modes. For instance, “Stealth Mode” allows drivers to cruise up to 45 mph with electric power. Also, “Shuttle Mode” facilitates electric motion without firing the V8.
Stealth Mode is limited to a few miles, but in that distance, drivers can move without using the powerful LT2 engine. However, if a driver consumes all of the energy in the 1.9 kWh battery architecture or exceeds 45 mph, the V8 will assist. On the other hand, Shuttle Mode won’t fire the V8 at all; it’s more suited to moving the car around in a garage or parking lot.
How much is the E-Ray Corvette?
The 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray will start at around $104,295 for the entry-level 1LZ coupe. While the new hybrid Corvette is considerably more expensive than the comparatively analog Stingray, it is still a performance bargain compared to other hybrid performance cars.
