Customers with different priorities approach the 150cc to 160cc motorcycle segment, and different manufacturers have different approaches to take on the segment.
That being said, Bajaj is now offering three different flavours in the 150cc to 160cc motorcycle segment. As such, here’s a comparison between the Bajaj Pulsar P150, Bajaj Pulsar N160, and Bajaj Pulsar NS160.
Features
The Bajaj Pulsar P150 is the latest motorcycle of the lot, and it comes equipped with decent-enough features such as LED projector headlamps, gear position indicator, clock, fuel economy meter, single-channel ABS, distance-to-empty read-out, and a few more. However, Bajaj has indeed cut a few corners by equipping the model with a smaller 260mm disc brake at the front, whereas the rear comes with a decent-sized 230mm disc brake.

On the other hand, the Bajaj Pulsar NS160 settles as the sportiest motorcycle of the lot with features such as a Perimeter frame and very bright graphics. However, the motorcycle is struggling to hide its age as it is the least equipped with outdated features such as halogen headlamps and an out-dated looking digital-analogue instrument cluster. Furthermore, the motorcycle comes equipped with features such as an underbelly exhaust, a monoshock, a 260mm front disc brake, a 230mm rear disc brake, and a single-channel ABS unit.
However, it is the Bajaj Pulsar N160 that has this category licked, by offering dual-channel ABS in this segment. Other notable features in the Bajaj Pulsar N160 include an underbelly exhaust, LED projector headlamps, split seats, a gear position indicator, a clock, a fuel economy meter and a distance-to-empty read-out. Furthermore, the motorcycle comes equipped with a large 300mm disc brake (ABS variant) at the front and a smaller 230mm disc brake at the rear.
Powertrain
Coming to the powertrain, the Bajaj Pulsar NS160 clearly has an edge with its 160.3cc, 4-valve engine capable of producing 17bhp of peak power and 14.6Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, the 164.82cc engine in the Bajaj Pulsar N160 with its 2-valve setup produces just 15.7bhp of peak power and 14.6Nm of peak torque. However, the newly launched Bajaj Pulsar P150 is the least powerful among the lot with its 149.68cc, single-cylinder engine. This engine produces just 14.3bhp of peak power and 13.5Nm of peak torque.
Price
In India, pricing plays a crucial role in the buying decision of many people, irrespective of the product and at Rs 1.23 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) the Bajaj Pulsar NS160 dual-disc variant is priced similarly to the entry-level Bajaj Pulsar N160, which is also priced at Rs 1.23 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). However, the most affordable of the lot is the Bajaj Pulsar P150 with a price tag of just Rs 1.17 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
Thoughts About The Bajaj Pulsar P150, Bajaj Pulsar N160 & Bajaj Pulsar NS160
The Bajaj Pulsar P150, N160 and NS160 are indeed attractive-looking motorcycles. However, the N160 leans towards slightly sportier riders, whereas the newly launched Pulsar P150 is aimed at a more mature audience, and the Pulsar NS160 is clearly aimed at customers with the sportiest intentions. Furthermore, the new Bajaj Pulsar P150 could fully replace the ageing Pulsar 150 range in the future.
