The 150cc to 160cc motorcycle segment has always been an attractive category for two-wheeler manufacturers in India.
On top of that, this segment also gives the two-wheeler manufacturers an opportunity to showcase their performance superiority over their immediate competitors. However, perfecting a motorcycle for this segment has been tricky for many manufacturers.
As a result, Bajaj is now offering multiple iterations of the Pulsar motorcycle in the 150cc to 160cc segment in India and here’s a quick comparison between the two latest iterations of the Pulsar motorcycles, the Pulsar P150 and the Pulsar N160.
Design
Though the design is a very subjective matter, and what may look good for me may not be good enough in others’ books. However, both the Bajaj Pulsar P150 and the Bajaj Pulsar N160 are modern machines that are designed to grab your attention.

Starting with the newest motorcycle, the Bajaj Pulsar P150 looks quite interesting and sporty with its sharp styling, under-belly exhaust and mono-shock rear suspension. Moreover, many will find the Pulsar P150 quite attractive as well.
On the other hand, the Bajaj Pulsar N160 looks similar yet slightly sportier and the overall design is just a bit more sporty compared to the Pulsar P150 motorcycle. As a result, the Pulsar N160 is more likely to suit a younger demographic.
Features
As mentioned above, customers with different priorities approach the 150cc to 160cc segment, and this is very difficult for the manufacturer as the price of the motorcycle also plays an important role in its success.
The Bajaj Pulsar N160 has this category wiped by offering dual-channel ABS in this segment, even though it is just an optional one. Other notable features in the Bajaj Pulsar N160 include an underbelly exhaust, LED projector headlamps, split seats, gear position indicator, clock, fuel economy meter and distance-to-empty read-out.
Despite being the newer motorcycle, the Bajaj Pulsar P150 comes with everything offered by the Pulsar N160 except for the dual-channel ABS. However, the motorcycle does sport single-channel ABS as standard.
Brakes
The Bajaj N160 sports a larger 300mm front disc on the dual-channel ABS variant, whereas the single-channel ABS variant comes with a smaller 280mm front disc brake. Moreover, the rear disc brakes on both variants measures an identical 230mm.
In comparison, the newly launched Bajaj Pulsar P150 comes with a smaller 260mm disc brake at the front, whereas the rear sports a 230mm disc brake. Moreover, the base variant of the Bajaj Pulsar P150 motorcycle is equipped with a 130mm drum brake setup.
Powertrain
The Bajaj Pulsar N160 is clearly the sportier motorcycle as its 164.82cc, single-cylinder, SOHC engine produces 15.7bhp of peak power at 8,750rpm and 14.6Nm of peak torque at 6,750rpm. Also, this engine sends its power to the rear wheels via a 5-speed gearbox.
Though the Bajaj Pulsar P150 also comes with a 5-speed gearbox, the 149.68cc, single-cylinder engine in the motorcycle produces just 14.3bhp of peak power at 8,500rpm and 13.5Nm of peak torque at 6,000rpm.
Price
In terms of pricing, the new Bajaj Pulsar P150 is clearly the more affordable motorcycle of the lot with a starting price of just Rs 1.17 lakh (ex-showroom, India). On the other hand, the Bajaj Pulsar N160 motorcycle prices start from Rs 1.23 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
Thoughts About The Bajaj Pulsar P150 & Bajaj Pulsar N160
Both the Bajaj Pulsar P150 and N160 are attractive-looking motorcycles. However, the N160 leans towards sportier riders, whereas the newly launched Pulsar P150 is aimed at a more mature audience. Furthermore, the new Bajaj Pulsar P150 could fully replace the ageing Pulsar 150 range in the future.
