Mazda has confirmed local pricing for the new CX-8 large SUV, which has been refreshed and lightly redesigned for 2023.
For most variants of the Mazda CX-8, pricing has only increased by a little more than $1500, meaning the entry price for the range is now $42,060 before on-road costs in Sport FWD petrol specification.
Most variants in the range are available in petrol guise with Mazda’s 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine putting power to the front wheels only, or a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine that drives all four wheels. That’s roughly about $7000 more expensive than its petrol counterpart.
The model that has copped the most significant price increase, by $2520, is the all-wheel-drive Touring Active, which builds on the specification of the Touring, as well as being offered with the more expensive diesel drivetrain. That variant now starts from $56,910.
Topping the range is the Asaki LE, as before, which now starts at $71,410 and includes more gear than the two regular Asaki variants. It’s only available with the 2.2-litre diesel.
Across the range, changes to the CX-8 include design updates to the front grille and surround, bumpers at both front and rear, as well as new head and tail-lights.
Inside, a 10.25-inch multimedia display is now standard with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For the driver, the 7.0-inch digital instrument display is new too.
In petrol variants, a sport mode has been added to the drivetrain settings, while diesel AWD versions now have an off-road mode.
Finally, underneath in the greasy bits, the new CX-8 has redesigned coil springs and front dampers which Mazda says improves handling and comfort.
The new CX-8 goes on sale in March this year, with full pricing detailed in the table below.
