The new generation Hyundai Verna is all set for the India launch on 21 March, 2023. The South Korean automaker recently commenced bookings for the all-new sedan. Notably, it is said that the new-gen Verna will go into production at the beginning of next month.
New-gen Hyundai Verna: Design
This generation update will bring a radically designed exterior to the Verna. It will feature a large grille reminiscent of the parametric jewel design of other Hyundai models. Additionally, the front will get a split headlight setup in the form of a full-length light bar and LED headlamps. Similarly, there will be a light strip adjoining LED taillights at the back. The sedan will come with a fresh set of alloy wheels too.
New-gen Hyundai Verna: Interior
The completely overhauled interior will feature a dual-screen setup similar to the i20. It will likely carry the 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with leatherette or leather upholstery in the top-spec variants. In addition, Hyundai is expected to offer a new steering wheel, an in-cabin air filter, a wireless charging pad, and ventilated front seats.
New-gen Hyundai Verna: Features
The highlight of the new-generation Verna will be its Advanced Driver Assistant Systems (ADAS), which will likely be called Hyundai Smart Sense. Moreover, the brand will probably equip it with six airbags, Bluelink-connected car features with smartwatch connectivity, ESP, TPMS, HHA, hill descent control, and four-wheel disc brakes, among others.
New-gen Hyundai Verna: Powertrain
Powering the all-new Verna will be a new 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged TGDi petrol engine paired with a six-speed manual or seven-speed DCT automatic transmission and a 1.5-litre, inline-four, naturally aspirated MPi petrol motor producing 115PS and 144Nm of torque. This engine will come mated to a six-speed manual or CVT automatic transmission. Both powertrains will be RDE norms-compliant and will be able to run on E20 fuel.
New-gen Hyundai Verna: Rivals and Prices
Upon launch, the all-new Hyundai Verna will compete against the upcoming 2023 Honda City facelift, Volkswagen Virtus, and Skoda Slavia. It is to be noted that the new-gen model will likely attract a higher premium over the on-sale Verna. Meanwhile, the current model has priced between Rs 9.64 lakh and Rs 15.72 (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
