Hyundai’s flagship sedan, the Hyundai Grandeur is ready to enter a new generation and it looks even more futuristic than ever. The all-new model comes six years after the launch of the sixth-generation back in 2016.
At first glance, the next-generation Grandeur bears a lot of resemblance with the Hyundai Staria MPV. The most prominent feature on the front end is the Seamless Horizon Lamp which was inspired by the first light of dawn.
The Seamless Horizon Lamp sits atop a redesigned parametric jewel grill and lower air intake. Unfortunately, Hyundai has done away with the matching jewel-shaped headlamps on the sixth-generation Grandeur in favour of a more traditional set.
To emphasize the size of the Grandeur, Hyundai made use of a single character line that stretches from the headlamps to the rear combination lamp. Designers also made sure to keep the rest of the car uncluttered with seamless door handles.
As the car is so long, the C-pillar even gets its own window to further emphasize the spaciousness of the car. At the rear, the Grandeur features a signature combination lamp connected by a lightbar that runs across the rear end.
For the inside, the ambient mood lighting is designed to provide a soft glow throughout the car. A digital screen that stretches from the fully-digital instrument cluster to the infotainment system flows seamlessly into the passenger-side dashboard.
Being a flagship sedan, of course, Hyundai would not miss out on wood trims for further refinement. Meanwhile, the interior surfaces such as the aluminium and Nappa leather seats were quilted in a traditional Korean pattern.
The steering wheel, meanwhile, draws inspiration from the single-spoke design of the first-generation Grandeur. Hence the slightly old fashion look though it gets spruced up with control buttons.
Also known as the Hyundai Azera in certain markets, the Grandeur is viewed as a symbol of success in Korea, so it is not surprising that Hyundai is rumoured to have already received 60,000 pre-bookings for the sedan.
