Built on the DNGA platform, the D74A Axia will come with a lot more features and tech than before
Following a very successful 2022, Perodua is all set to have yet another successful year as it announced today that the all-new 2023 Perodua Axia is now officially open for booking.
Built on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform, the new Axia, which comes with the D74A model code, is completely new from the ground-up and will come with a comprehensive list of features and technology that will make the Axia a significantly more advanced product than before.
Powering the D74A Axia will be “an EEV engine with D-CVT”. Our guess is that the car will come with an improved version of the 1.0L three-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine in the current Axia which produces 67 hp and 91Nm of torque.
There has not been any mention of a turbocharged engine, but fuel economy has definitely improved as it is now rated at 27.4 kilometres per litre.
The 1.0-litre engine and D-CVT gearbox is expected to be standard across the board, equipped on four variants of the Axia, namely the Axia G,X, SE, and AV.
In case you’re wondering, the estimated prices for the four variants are as mentioned below:
- Perodua Axia G – RM38,600
- Perodua Axia X – RM40,000
- Perodua Axia SE – RM44,000
- Perodua Axia AV – 49,500
Offered in five colours – Coral Blue (new), Granite Grey, Lava Red, Ivory White, and Glittering Silver, the new Axia will come with LED headlights and DRLs and keyless entry.
Inside, there will be a digital seven-inch TFT Multi-info display, a nine-inch touch-screen infotainment system for the higher-spec variants, a Power mode, as well as Perodua’s Smart Drive Assist suite of driver asssistance features.
Features that are standard across the board include electrically-adjustable wing mirrors, Anti-lock brakes, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Control, Hill-Start Assist, Traction Control, a standard audio head unit and an LCD Multi-info display.
Where safety is concerned, we can expect the higher-spec variants to come with six airbags while the lower-end versions are most likely to come with just two like what we have now.
Last but not least, the all-new D74 Perodua Axia will come with a five-year or 150,000 km warranty coverage like all Peroduas in Malaysia at the moment.
