The new Glanza is based on the new-gen Maruti Baleno but there are some key difference between the two cars, highlighted in this video
Just a few days after the Maruti Suzuki Baleno arrived in India, Toyota updated its badge-engineered model, the Glanza. However, this time around, the differences between the two cars are not limited to the presence of different badges.
The heavily updated Toyota Glanza now comes with a host of visual changes in and out, which now give it its own identity. A walk-around video by YouTuber, ’The Car Show shows all the updates of the new Toyota Glanza in detail.
What are the exterior changes in 2022 Toyota Glanza?
The video showcases the Sportin Red coloured Toyota Glanza in its top-spec V variant. The walk-around video starts with the front profile first, and it is where the Glanza looks the most different compared to the Baleno.
The front of the new Toyota Glanza now looks much sleeker with a slim-looking grille characterized by sleek chrome garnish running across its width and spreading to the inner edges of the headlamps. Glanza gets more chrome compared to the Baleno.
Toyota has added new bumpers, headlamps and grille
The headlamp units are new as well. Compared to the segmented daytime running LEDs of the Baleno, the headlamps in the Glanza get continuous L-shaped daytime running LEDs. However, the housing and the LED projector bulb inside remain the same. The front bumper looks aggressively designed, with C-shaped chrome garnish around the fog lamps and heavy-looking black cladding around the central air dam and extending towards the fog lamp housings.
The side profile of the new Toyota Glanza looks very similar to that of the new Baleno, with the chrome finish on the door handles and window waistline and door-mounted rearview mirror retained from the latter. The Glanza gets a different pattern for the 16-inch machined alloy wheels compared to the wheels in the new Baleno.

At the back, the differences between the new Toyota Glanza and Maruti Baleno are limited just to the badges.
The new Glanza gets broader L-shaped tail lamps with revised LED inserts, roof-mounted body-coloured spoiler, and chrome garnish spread across the width of the boot lid below the rear windscreen, all of which are there in the updated Baleno as well.
What are the changes inside the cabin?
On the inside, the new Toyota Glanza gets subtle differences over the new Baleno, which are pleasant to the eyes.
While the dashboard layout is similar between the two hatchbacks, the new Glanza gets a different dual-tone black and beige upholstery with contrast piano-black garnish, compared to the dual-tone black and blue upholstery with contrast silver garnish in the new Maruti Suzuki Baleno. The dual-tone black and beige finish are on the dashboard, seats and door panels, thus making the cabin look brighter.
The driver’s cockpit of the new Toyota Glanza looks the same as that of the new Baleno, with a new flat-bottom multi-functional tilt and telescopic adjustable steering wheel and a revised instrument console with chrome surrounds for analogue dials and a new TFT MID screen in the middle. While the left spoke of the steering wheel houses buttons for audio, Bluetooth, and voice commands, the right spoke gets buttons for the cruise control, a new feature in the updated Glanza.
But the overall features and layout remain the same
Towards the right side of the steering wheel, there is a new array of switches, which include an auto start-stop switch and a switch for turning on the head-up display behind the instrument console – another new feature in the updated Glanza. The centre console also is retained from the Baleno, with a new 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system at the top and a sleeker panel for the automatic climate control at the bottom. Between these two, there are sleeker and horizontal AC vents.
Apart from a new interface, the infotainment system also offers displays for the 360-degree parking camera, another feature that has made its way in the updated Glanza. The system also supports Android Auto and Apple Carplay and connected car features. The lower centre console here gets a 12V power socket, a USB charging socket, and two cup holders.
Other features included in the updated Toyota Glanza are a height-adjustable driver’s seat, push start-stop button, vanity mirrors in both driver and co-driver side sun visors, 6-speaker audio system (four speakers and two tweeters), auto-dimming inside rearview mirror and sliding front centre armrest.
At the back, the new Glanza now gets rear AC vents and a 60:40 split pattern for the rear seats. In terms of safety, the new Glanza gets front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors and ISOFIX mounts for child seats.
At the end of the video, the presenter confirms that the updated Glanza is pricier by its counterpart variant of the new Baleno by almost Rs 20,000. However, the new Glanza offers a better warranty of three year/1,00,000km, against the two year/40,000 km warranty in the Baleno.
Which engine powers the 2022 Glanza?
The mechanicals also remain the same
There is no difference between the two cars under their hoods. The new Toyota Glanza shares its 1.2-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine, which churns out 90 PS of maximum power and 113 Nm of maximum torque. While it comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, it is also on offer with a 5-speed AMT gearbox. With this, the new Glanza is the first-ever Toyota product in India to get an AMT gearbox.
