Lucid Air Dream Edition R has achieved 520 miles on a single charge. That’s a record-breaking official EPA range rating, making it the first electric car ever to breach 500 miles. It means you could travel from Los Angeles to San Francisco without stopping.
Lucid Group’s Lucid Air Dream Edition R cruised from Los Angeles up to San Francisco and back down to the company’s HQ in Newark, California — a 445-mile trip — with 72 miles to spare.
Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CTO, Lucid Group, says: “I’m delighted that our Lucid Air Dream Edition Range has been officially accredited with a range of 520 miles by the EPA, a number I believe to be a new record for any EV. Crucially, this landmark has been achieved by Lucid’s world-leading, in-house EV technology, not by simply installing an oversize battery pack. Our race-proven 900V battery and BMS technology, our miniaturized drive units, coupled with our Wunderbox technology endow Lucid Air with ultra-high efficiency, enabling it to travel more miles from less battery energy. The next generation EV has truly arrived!”
He adds: “Improvements in efficiency will enable widespread mass adoption. We develop all our technology in-house, and we have a relentless focus on efficiency. Our approach is based on the concept of ‘smart range,’ going incredible distance on a single charge, carrying the smallest possible battery packs.”
Lucid Group is a publicly listed company trading on the Nasdaq Global Select Market with its Class A common stock and public warrants listed under the ticker symbols “LCID” and “LCIDW,” respectively.
Lucid completed the previously announced merger with Churchill Capital Corp IV on July 23, 2021.
