Kia EV6 has been a very successful model for Kia India as the South Korean car manufacturer managed to sell 432 units of the premium electric crossover in the country.
Though this sales figure may seem small and insignificant compared to other Kia models, in reality, Kia India managed to sell approximately 4 times the originally planned allotment for the country.
Thanks to such an overwhelming response from the Indian customer base, Kia India has now planned to reopen bookings for the 2023 Kia EV6 electric crossover in the country. According to Kia, bookings for the 2023 Kia EV6 will reopen on April 15.
In addition to that, Kia India has also decided to expand the availability of the 2023 Kia EV6 in the country by expanding its dealer network from 15 outlets in 12 cities to 60 outlets in 44 cities.
Kia India has also planned to install 150kW DC fast chargers at all of these dealerships to ensure fast charging to its EV6 customers. These new 150kW DC fast chargers are capable of charging the Kia EV6 batteries from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in just 42 minutes.
In comparison, the Kia EV6 electric crossover takes approximately 73 minutes to charge from 10 per cent to 80 per cent using a less powerful 50kW DC fast charger – Which is already 31 minutes more compared to the 150kW DC fast charger.
Coming to the powertrain, the ‘GT Line’ variant is powered by a single PMSM electric motor with 226bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. On the other hand, the top-spec ‘GT Line AWD’ variant comes with two PMSM electric motors with a combined 321bhp of power and 605Nm of torque.
On top of that, both variants of the Kia EV6 come with a large 77.4kWh battery pack. Thanks to this large battery pack, the claimed range for the Kia EV6 electric crossover goes up to 708 kilometres under the ARAI test cycle.
In terms of performance, the Kia EV6 GT Line AWD can sprint to 100km/h from a standstill in just 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 260km/h. Also, safety systems include 8 airbags, ABS, ESC, electronic parking brake, ISOFIX child seats, Hill-Star Assist, ADAS and more.
That being said, Kia India has hiked the prices for the 2023 Kia EV6 and the prices for the electric crossover now starts from Rs 60.95 lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the GT Line variant and Rs 65.95 lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the GT Line AWD variant.
