The Honda Odyssey is an excellent minivan with a long and successful history, and Honda recently debuted the 2023 model year of the Odyssey. Consumer Reports recently got its hands on the 2023 Odyssey, and the Honda minivan became the first minivan in the 2023 model year to get reviewed. And overall, it’s still an excellent minivan that the well-known car critic recommends. Here’s a look at the three things Consumer Reports liked about the 2023 Honda Odyssey.
1. The 2023 Honda Odyssey has a comfortable ride

According to Consumer Reports, one of the reasons why the Odyssey is tied for first place in the minivan segment is because the Honda has a comfortable ride. The car’s suspension works well, allowing the Honda minivan to cruise over bumps on the road while providing a gentle experience. The Odyssey’s ride is so good that it’s “similar to the experience of riding in a luxury sedan.”
Another aspect that helps make the ride feel luxurious is the seats. There’s plenty of room on the seats, and they’re generally comfortable. On the top trims, Honda gives customers access to features like leather upholstery and heated seats, and they will make the minivan an even more comfortable place to be in. On top of that, getting into and out of those seats will be easy, as there’s plenty of space to move around.
2. The interior is very quiet
The Odyssey is comfortable in other ways, as it’s a quiet vehicle all around. Like Consumer Reports wrote, it will not be completely silent, as drivers and passengers will hear wind noise when the car is at highway speeds, and on coarse pavement, folks will be able to hear road noise too. The critical part is that the noise levels are low and not distracting or uncomfortable.
This is the same story with the Honda minivan’s engine. Honda currently offers only one engine option, a 3.5-liter V6 that gets 280 hp. Not only does this engine provide enough power to the car, but it also has a “smooth, polished hum.”
Furthermore, in terms of noise tech, Honda offers a system that it calls CabinTalk. It’ll allow people in the front row to talk to people in the back easily. CabinTalk will even lower the volume of the music, so it’s easier to hear the speaker.
3. The 2023 Honda Odyssey has a ton of interior room and cargo capacity
Minivans are well-known for having a lot of interior room, and the Odyssey lives up to that expectation well. There is plenty of interior space, and Honda also offers some flexible usage of that interior room. For example, there are small bins and cupholders everywhere, including a “stealthy bin” at the bottom of the center console that Consumer Reports said is perfect for hiding stuff.
The seats are foldable and can significantly increase the minivan’s cargo capacity. The seats can do that while giving owners flexibility regarding how much cargo capacity they can get. For example, the third-row seats are in a 60/40 configuration, and this will provide owners with options as they can fold one side down to get more cargo capacity without losing the whole row of seats.
The Odyssey gets 40.2 cu-ft of cargo capacity without folding any seats down. With the third row entirely down, it gets 86.9 cu-ft. With the second and third rows down, it tops out at 145.1 cu-ft of cargo capacity.
