But at least it's only $100 more expensive.
Kia's ultimate sleeper, the K5, has been lightly updated for the 2024 model year. And we really mean light because the only difference between the 2023 and 2024 models is the GT-Line FWD trim getting heated front seats as standard. It's worth noting that the K5 is not one of the Kia models caught up in the TikTok theft scandal.
The four existing trim levels are carried over. They are the LXS, EX, GT-Line, and GT. The GT-Line can be ordered with an all-wheel-drive system if you live in a cold-weather state. All models transfer power to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Base models like the LXS and EX have a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-pot that produces 180 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. Models wearing the GT badge gain a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, boosting the power to an impressive 290 hp and 311 lb-ft.

As we expect from Kia, the K5 is generously equipped. Standard safety features across the range include forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, driver attention warning, lane departure alert, lane-keeping assist, lane following assist, high beam assist, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, and rear cross-traffic alert.
The list of standard features is also impressive, though the LXS trim has to make do without certain classier interior adornments. All models have an eight-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and support for two Bluetooth devices.
All models have a rearview camera, dual-zone climate control, remote keyless entry, and remote start. GT-Line adds power-adjustable seats, wireless charging, and leather cladding on the steering wheel. And, of course, the previously mentioned heated seats.

Since there's only one significant change, Kia kept the price increase to a minimum. The LXS, EX, and GT are just $100 more expensive than last year, while the GT-Line is $200 more. The LXS comes with an MSRP of $25,390, increasing to $29,290 for the EX. A GT-Line (with the 2.5-liter turbocharged engine) is $26,290, rising to $28,490 if you want AWD. The top-spec GT sells for $31,790. All of these prices exclude the $1,125 destination fee.
If you are in the market for a luxurious South Korean sedan, it might be worth waiting for the 2024 Hyundai Sonata. The facelifted Sonata has been revealed elsewhere in the world, and unlike Kia, Hyundai actually made an effort.
Still, the K5 remains an exciting and affordable alternative to top sellers like the Toyota Camry and Nissan Altima.
