Not set to arrive in Honda South Africa’s lineup, the 2024 Honda Accord has made its Japanese debut as a sleek and elegant iteration of the current-generation sedan. We like the look!

This model may be unfamiliar to many South Africans viewing it but the 2024 Honda Accord is only an evolution of the current eleventh-generation CY frame. Comparing it to its predecessor, it remains aesthetically similar with the front fascia retaining its slim LED headlights and hexagonal grille, while the rear showcases the lightbar, with lighting strips extending toward the Honda badge in the centre.

Honda mentions that the 2024 Accord features a “newly developed” two-motor hybrid system, but based on available information, it’s likely the same 2,0-litre electrified mill introduced last year. In this scenario, this hybrid powertrain produces 152 kW and 335 N.m. So what else has changed? Jump into the cabin to find out.
Inside, you’ll notice a redesigned upper part of the dashboard, which now houses a new bezel for the digital instrument cluster. While the screen’s size remains the same, there are refinements to the trim that surrounds it. Honda also mentions the availability of a 10,5-inch head-up display too.
Moving to the centre console, you’ll find the same 12,3-inch centre touchscreen as its predecessor. Below it, there’s a large round knob that takes the place of the previous climate controls. The previous layout with 12 buttons and three small knobs is gone, replaced by something Honda refers to as the “Experience Selection Dial,” at least in its rough translation from Japanese. This multifunction dial manages the car’s heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and other essential functions, which can be preset for individual users.

With a traditional shifter gone, Honda has now installed four buttons for the P, R, N, and D positions, with additional buttons for the drive modes and electronic parking brake located behind them.
Discontinued in South Africa two generations ago, we take a look at Honda’s revised and handsome eleventh-generation Accord sedan.
Is it a pity Mzansi will never see this sleek model?
Honda South Africa dropped the Accord from their model lineup after the ninth generation fought a brave battle against the growing demand for SUVs. That said, the handsome 2024 Accord won’t make its way to local shores.
