South Korean carmaker Kia revealed the facelifted Seltos SUV for the Indian market. The Kia Seltos was the first vehicle from the Korean firm to enter India and has finally been updated after four years.
The new 2023 Kia Seltos is sure to attract more customers to the brand. But before you make that decision, here are the top 5 things you need to know about the facelifted Kia Seltos.
Exterior Design
The facelifted Kia Seltos has got quite a few updates in the design department. Up front, the design of the headlights & LED daytime running lights has been tweaked. The DRLs now run across the centre of the new grille rather than the top as on the OG Seltos.
The front bumper has been tweaked, and the Seltos rides on wheels as large as 18 inches in size, a first for the segment. The 17-inch alloys, too, have a new design. The rear sports new LED taillights that are connected by a LED lightbar. The bumpers also differ depending on the variant / trim line.
The new Kia Seltos is now offered in eight Monotone, two dual tones and Xclusive Matte Graphite colours which includes the brand new Pewter Olive shade.
The other colour options on offer are Imperial Blue, Intense Red, Aurora Black Pearl, Clear White, Sparkling Silver, Glacier White Pearl, Gravity Grey, Xclusive Matt Graphite (X-Line), Glacier White Pearl + Aurora Black Pearl, and Intense Red + Aurora Black Pearl.
Interiors
The interiors of the new Seltos SUV have been thoroughly updated. The biggest of these changes can be seen on the dashboard, which now sports dual displays for the digital cluster and infotainment.
Both displays measure 10.25 inches across the diagonal. The HD infotainment touchscreen unit supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as 67 smart features.
The new Seltos comes packed with an array of features, including a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, dual-zone fully automatic air conditioning, an 8-inch heads-up display, Bose Premium Sound System with 8 Speakers, a 360-degree camera and a wireless phone charger.
New Turbo-Petrol Engine
The 2023 Kia Seltos retains the OG SUV’s 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. However, the old 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine has made way for the new 1.5-litre turbocharged four-pot from the Carens.
The all-new turbocharged petrol engine produces 158bhp at 5,500rpm and 253Nm of peak torque from 1,500 to 3,500rpm. The engine is offered with either a 6-speed intelligent manual transmission or a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
ADAS & Safety Kit
The Kia Seltos comes packed with the firm ADAS 2.0 array of driver aids. The Seltos sports 17 advanced driver-assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control, front collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane following assist, blind-spot collision warning and high beam assistance, among others.
The Kia Seltos also sports a host of safety features as standard. This includes six airbags, ABS with EBD, all-wheel disc brakes, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, hill-start assist, TPMS and rear parking sensors.
Bookings
Kia will open bookings for the new Seltos SUV on the 15th of July for the general public. However, existing Kia Seltos owners looking to upgrade will be able to book the new Seltos a day earlier on the 14th of July.
This is through the newly announced K-Code system that prioritises bookings and deliveries for existing customers. Customers using the K-Code setup will be able to book the new Seltos on the Kia India website and app.
Thoughts About The New Kia Seltos
The changes to the facelifted Kia Seltos are more than skin deep and offer a big upgrade compared to its predecessor, and we expect it to once again challenge the Hyundai Creta and newcomers like Maruti’s Grand Vitara and the Toyota Hyryder.
