In the development of the new IONIQ 6, Hyundai continues to work at full capacity. An anticipated electric automobile that is intended to play a pivotal role, but whose delivery has been postponed for a few months owing to last-minute alterations made by the South Korean manufacturer. These spy photographs illustrate some of the adjustments that have already been made to the prototypes.

It was just a few months ago that the news broke. The new IONIQ 6 has been delayed by a few months. Something that may appear to be an unfavorable setback at first glance, but which was more than warranted in this circumstance.

And, following the parameters set forth by Hyundai Motor Group CEO Euisun Chung, the debut of the new member of the IONIQ family was postponed in order to make a number of last-minute alterations.

The original suggestion from the team behind the new IONIQ 6 did not sit well with Chung. As a result, Hyundai will make certain changes in order to provide a more complete product and to meet the expectations that have been raised. The new IONIQ 6 has been tasked with taking the lead. It’s even being marketed as a direct competitor to Tesla’s popular Model 3.

Hyundai’s upcoming IONIQ 6, an electric vehicle, has been spotted in spy images.

The new IONIQ 6 was once again pursued in broad daylight. The spy photographs that accompany this post are from South Korea, which is a long way away. The development process has been focused in South Korea. As a result, the great majority of sightings have taken place there. The prototype that has been photographed, on the other hand, already has Hyundai’s last-minute changes. What changes are they referring to? Let’s take a closer look.

The two bumpers have been changed, and this new proposal lengthens the car by around 20 millimeters when compared to the previous concept. These redesigned bumpers provide better aerodynamic performance, which is critical for increasing efficiency and lowering energy usage. As a result, you’ll have more freedom.

In terms of appearance, Hyundai has opted to include an intelligent lighting grille on the IONIQ 6. The delay, however, is due to the propulsion system, which has been modified at the design level.

Hyundai’s upcoming IONIQ 6, an electric vehicle, has been spotted in spy images.

The two bumpers have been changed, and this new proposal lengthens the car by around 20 millimeters when compared to the previous concept.

Hyundai will equip the IONIQ 6 with a larger battery.

The new IONIQ 6 will have a greater capacity lithium ion battery than was initially planned. It will reach 77.4 kWh, which will, naturally, result in an increase in autonomy. According to many sources, autonomy will well exceed the 600-kilometer mark.

Hyundai’s upcoming IONIQ 6 will be the company’s second electric car to use the e-GMP platform. An architecture dedicated solely to 100% electric vehicles. It will be available in dealerships in the year 2022.

Although the Ioniq 5 was the first model of Hyundai’s new electric sub-brand, its design cannot be translated to the Ioniq 6 sports sedan. Sang Yup Lee, the design director, purposely defies convention by not giving the Ioniq models a traditional brand face.

However, Hyundai appears to still perceive a need for action in terms of design and technology soon before the commencement of production in early 2022. According to a report in the “Korean Economic Daily,” the electric sedan’s headlights will be altered, as well as the front and back bumpers. This brings the total length to 4.9 meters, an increase of 20 millimeters.

Another reason for the delay is the Asan plant’s temporary shutdown for the conversion. The Ioniq 6 will now be produced in May/June 2022, two to three months later than originally intended.

Ioniq 5 has a longer range.

The technology inherits the Ioniq 5’s model from the C segment, i.e. the tiny class. Number 6 is built on the ” Electric Global Modular Platform ” – “E-GMP” for short – which has been tuned for plug-in hybrids, hydrogen, and pure battery propulsion. The batteries, like those in Volkswagen’s modular electrical building kit (MEB), are stored in the car floor and have varying capacities.

The range, which is between 650 and 700 kilometers, expands as a result. The Ioniq 5 comes with two battery packs with capacities of 58 and 72.6 kWh, as well as two drive architectures. All-wheel drive with two electric motors (230 kW / 313 PS), one per axle, and rear-wheel drive with an electric motor rated at 160 kW (218 PS). Instead of the 72.6 kWh battery, the Ioniq 6 should feature a 77.4 kWh battery. The Kia EV6 is an example of this. As an EV6 GT, it produces 229 horsepower with rear-wheel drive and 585 horsepower with all-wheel drive. An 800-volt DC quick charging system is used for standard charging.

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 has a steering wheel that is in the right position.

Hyundai relies on a minimalist design with sophisticated features in the Ioniq 6’s large cabin. The driver is surrounded by digital devices and a head-up display, and the seats can be adjusted in a variety of ways, including folding back to form a recliner. In the Ioniq 6, connectivity is equally as vital as networked assistance and comfort features.

The inside of the Prophecy study was only big enough for two seats plus two “jump seats” despite its length of 4.90 meters. The futuristic interior, on the other hand, should not be carried over to the series. Instead of a steering wheel, Hyundai placed a big display that stretched the length of the car and two joysticks. The drivers reach into a traditional wheel in the current Hyundai design in the manufacturing version.

In terms of the exterior, the study’s extremely athletic and filigree appearance isn’t entirely preserved in the series. The Ioniq 6 appears to have a more traditional appearance in the latest Erlkönig images. The front end is substantially taller, and it resembles the Kia EV6 in appearance. The production model’s athletic, graceful aesthetics are mostly gone. The windows are wider, and the roof is no longer flat over the passengers’ heads. The back end isn’t quite as elegant as it was in the study. Under the camouflage, a traditional finish with a spoiler lip and transverse lighting can be seen.

The Koreans want to attain a drag coefficient of less than 0.20 with this approach.
