Honda takes fight up to Toyota RAV4 with all-new ZR-V mid-size SUV; order books now open from $40K
Honda Australia is now taking deposits for its all-new 2023 Honda ZR-V mid-size SUV, which goes on sale from May 19 priced from $40,200 drive-away.
It looks to be a competitive entry point for the ZR-V, which slots in between the HR-V small SUV and the current CR-V that will move up in size when the next-generation model arrives later this year.
Aiming directly at the Toyota RAV4 and Mazda CX-5, the Honda ZR-V will be available in four grades and with two powertrains: a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine and a 2.0-litre petrol-electric hybrid.
Local specifications are still to be released, but the range will open with the petrol VTi X at $40,200, climbing to $43,200 for the VTi L and to $48,500 for the VTi LX (all prices are drive-away).
There’s only one hybrid version at launch, the flagship e:HEV VTi LX that tops the range at $54,900 drive-away.
Expect a high level of specification that should draw buyer interest away from not only direct rivals but the current CR-V, which does not have a hybrid option and is priced between $35,900 and $53,600 drive-away.
The HR-V, by comparison, is priced from $36,700 for the Vi X and from $47,000 for the e:HEV L hybrid.
ZR-V customers will have the choice of five exterior colours – Crystal Black, Platinum Grey, Platinum Crystal Blue, Platinum White and Platinum Crystal Garnet – however the base VTi X will not be available in the blue or black.
Stay tuned as full local specs and grade-by-grade features should soon be available.
