Images of the facelifted 2023 Honda City have leaked ahead of its expected launch next month. The facelifted Honda City will not feature a diesel engine with stringent RDE emission norms set to come into effect on the 1st of April.
Honda is set to launch the facelifted City sedan sometime next month ahead of the arrival of new RDE norms and around the same time Hyundai is set to launch the next-gen Verna in India.
Now, just weeks before the expected launch, the exterior of the facelifted Honda City has been revealed in a set of images that have leaked over the interwebs.
The leaked images of the 2023 Honda City show just what Honda has tweaked when it comes to the design of its popular sedan. The front end features a slightly tweaked grille that is smaller than before and is flanked on either side by LED headlamps (in the top-spec variant only).
Both the front and rear bumpers have been tweaked slightly for the 2023 update to the Honda City and the sedan also rides on a set of newly designed alloy wheels.
The interior is also expected to get more creature comforts to help the City keep up with the new Verna, so expect ventilated seats, a slightly tweaked infotainment setup and more.
The biggest change in the facelifted City though will be found under the hood. The popular sedan is set to lose its 1.5-litre diesel engine thanks to the new RDE norms that come into effect in April 2022.
With the new RDE norms set to make emissions targets even stricter, Honda is said to have decided to stick to the regular 1,5-petrol and 1.5-litre petrol-electric strong hybrid powerplants instead of the oil burner. The loss of the diesel engine will also ensure that the facelifted City will be losing all its variants that were powered by the diesel powertrain.
Thoughts About The Facelifted Honda City
The facelifted Honda City may not seem to be that big a change when just viewed at a glance. However, by digging underneath the metal, the new 2023 Honda City will be quite different from the car we see in showrooms right now thanks to the upcoming RDE emission norms. So if you wish to get your diesel Honda City, you better do it now.
