Toyota has introduced the new Glanza in the Indian market today. The new-generation Glanza is based on the new-generation Baleno. Toyota has introduced additional trims with the Glanza, which brings the price of the hatchback lower than before. The price of the new Glanza starts at Rs 6.39 lakh ex-showroom for the new E variant.

0What is new in the 2022 Glanza?0

Just like the previous version of the Glanza, the new car is very similar to the Maruti Baleno. However, Toyota has worked to make the face of the Glanza different from the Maruti Suzuki’s hatchback.

The Baleno and Glanza are identical mechanically

The new Glanza gets a new grille that looks inspired by the Camry sedan. The new grille ensures that the Glanza looks much like a car from the Toyota family. Toyota has also updated the bumpers of the car.

The biggest change in the front-end of the new Glanza is the design of the headlamps. To give it a unique identity, Toyota offers an L-shaped DRL with all-LED headlamps. The shape of the DRLs is very different from the new Baleno.

But from the side and rear, it looks same as the Baleno

Toyota has also added new alloy wheels to the car. Other parts like the rear tailgate, split tail lamps all remain the same as the Baleno.

The cabin also gets a few changes

Even the layered cabin layout is the same as the Baleno. Glanza gets a dual-tone theme on the dashboard and the seats of the car. The beige colour in the cabin definitely makes it look upmarket.

The feature list is also identical to the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. The new Glanza gets the 9.0-inch infotainment system with Toyota I-Connect. It allows the car to remain connected to the phone and lets the owner control several features in the car. Like the Baleno, the Glanza also offers six airbags, an automatic climate system, and tilt and telescopic adjustment for the steering wheel.

The new Glanza does not get any mechanical changes. Toyota will ship the car with the same 1.2-litre K12N DualJet petrol engine. The 1.2-litre engine of the Glanza generates a maximum power of 90 PS and a peak torque of 113 Nm. There is a choice between a five-speed manual and an AMT transmission.

Toyota also offers a much higher warranty on the Glanza. It gets a three-year, 1 lakh km standard warranty which can be extended to 5 years or 2.2 lakh km coverage.
