Subaru Australia has rolled out updates to the Impreza small car, XV crossover and Outback large SUV in line with 2022 model year, but the adjustments will come with a price increase of up to $1300.
The Japanese brand has removed the base grade of the Impreza, the 2.0i, in both sedan and hatchback form, meaning the point of entry to the entire Subaru range is now the Impreza 2.0i-L, which jumps up in price by $1300 to $27,290 before on-road costs for the sedan and $27,490 for the five-door hatch.
In fact, the remaining Impreza grades, including the 2.0i Premium and top-spec 2.0i-S, are also up $1300, with the sedan versions of the former now $29,890 and the latter priced at $32,590.
The hatchback bodystyle adds another $200 to the bottom line.
The mechanically related XV meanwhile, has also undergone a similar transformation for 2022 with the removal of the base 2.0i grade.
The rest of the petrol-powered XV range however, has jumped up in price by $1200, with the now range-opening 2.0i-L positioned at $33,190.
However, those wanting a hybrid will find that the electrified XV has increased by $1300, with the 2.0 Hybrid L and 2.0 Hybrid S now at $36,790 and $42,090 each.
All Imprezas and non-hybrid XVs are motivated by a 2.0-litre petrol engine that sends 115kW/196Nm to all four wheels via a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
The XV Hybrids combine a 110kW/196Nm 2.0-litre petrol engine with a 12.3kWh/66Nm electric motor.
As for the Outback large SUV, prices are up only $800, with the unnamed base grade now at $41,490, the mid-spec Sport asking $45,990 and the top-tier Touring commanding a $49,970 pricetag.
The Outback Premium Special Edition has now been discontinued, leaving Subaru’s large SUV range with three variants.
As before, all Outbacks are powered by a 138kW/245NM 2.5-litre petrol engine, but Subaru has confirmed a turbo version will be on the way next year.
