Renault has given its compact SUV a sporty makeover to create the Captur RS Line. This new addition to the range has just gone on sale in Australia, given the French brand a key point-of-difference between itself and its more mainstream rivals – the Mazda CX-3, Toyota Yaris Cross and Hyundai Venue.
While powered by the same 1.3-litre petrol engine as the rest of the range, the RS Line gets unique styling elements to set it apart.
On the exterior there are 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, a new front bumper with “F1-inspired aero blade”, dual chrome exhaust tips, front and rear skid plates, gunmetal grey trim and unique badging.
The changes continue inside where there’s “carbon-look” interior trim, alloy sports pedals, red and grey contrasting stitching and ‘RS Line’ details on the door sills and other areas.
It’s not just a style package though, with Renault throwing in extra equipment to differentiate it from the Captur Intens that sits below it in the range. This includes a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, auto-dimming rear-view mirrors, semi-autonomous parking and automatic headlights.
“Captur R.S. Line channels the strong sporting heritage of the Renault brand as we continue to expand our product offering in Australia,” explained Glen Sealey, Renault Australia general manager.
“With strategic additions like this Captur R.S Line, Renault is offering consumers even more choice as we begin to grow the product portfolio. With new commercial vehicles arriving later this year, and the recent well-received reveal of the all-new Megane E-Tech, it’s exciting times ahead for Renault.”
Priced from $39,950 (plus on-road costs), the new Captur RS Line sits at the top of the recently tweaked range. Renault Australia has adjusted prices across the line-up with the Captur Life starting at $30,090 (up $1900), Zen from $32,090 (up $1300) and Intens now priced from $37,090 (up $1300).
This price increase coincides with the addition of adaptive cruise control with stop and go being added as standard on the Zen and Intens models, but can also likely be attributed to rising manufacturing and shipping costs caused by the global supply chain crisis.
