Maruti Suzuki has just launched the facelift of the XL6. It now starts at Rs. 11.29 lakhs ex-showroom and goes up to Rs. 14.55 lakhs ex-showroom. The manufacturer has made some cosmetic changes, added some features and made changes to the engine as well as the gearbox.

It has managed to carve a space for itself as the premium MPV in a short period. The evolving customer’s aspirations for a bolder, feature-packed, premium utility vehicle have led us to introduce the All-New XL6. This premium MPV has enhanced comfort and convenience features, which are bound to delight the today’s modern buyer. Based on NEXA’s new design language “CRAFTED FUTURISM”, the All-New XL6 has a refreshed design, advanced features and is powered by Next-Generation powertrain with an all-new 6-speed automatic transmission. I am confident that our NEXA customers will appreciate the All-New XL6.”
The design has been slightly revised for the 2022 model year. The front now gets a new front grille and a slightly different bumper design. This gives a more rugged look to the MPV. On the sides, there are 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The pre-facelift version of the XL6 was criticized for having 15-inch alloy wheels. The new 16-inch ones add to the stance of the MPV. At the rear, the design of the tail lamps is the same but now they have a smoked effect. Moreover, Maruti Suzuki has also added some new colour options and you can now get the XL6 with a blacked-out roof also.
The XL6 now comes with features like a tyre pressure monitoring system, a 360-degree parking camera that will help the driver in parking the MPV in tight parking spaces, Hill Hold Assist, Electronic Stability Program and 4 airbags. Maruti Suzuki has also added ventilated front seats to the XL6. You also get Suzuki Connect connected car technology that supports smartwatch compatibility.
Then there is the new SmartPlay Pro touchscreen infotainment system. It runs a new user interface as compared to the previous SmartPlay Studio system. It continues to support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The interior is more or less the same as the Ertiga. It gets an all-black cabin theme with a wooden insert in the dashboard. There is a new three-spoke flat-bottom multi-function steering wheel.
Maruti Suzuki has upgraded the engine of the XL6. It is now the new K15C DualJet petrol engine. It is still a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine but now gets two injectors per cylinder instead of one. This gives the manufacturer more precise control over fueling.
The engine now produces 100 PS of max power and 136 Nm of peak torque. You can get it with a 5-speed manual gearbox or a new 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The claimed fuel efficiency of the manual gearbox is 20.97 kmpl whereas for the automatic transmission it is 20.27 kmpl. If you opt for the automatic transmission then you also get paddle shifters mounted behind the steering wheel. Unlike Ertiga, the XL6 is not offered with a CNG powertrain.
The pre-facelift XL6 was offered in just two variants whereas the 2022 XL6 will get three variants. There will be Zeta, Alpha and Alpha+. The dual-tone colour schemes are offered only with the Alpha+ variants.
