South Korean carmaker Kia has updated the Sonet and Seltos for the 2022 model year. The updates for the 2022 Kia Seltos and Sonet SUVs come with an increase in the price tags.
The 2022 Kia Sonet SUV is offered in six trim levels with prices ranging between Rs 7.15 lakh and Rs 12.39 lakh. The larger 2022 Seltos, on the other hand, is offered in 9 variants with prices ranging between Rs 10.19 and 18.45 lakh (all prices mentioned are ex-showroom).
The Kia Sonet for the 2022 model year has been updated with a host of features. All variants of the Sonet are now offered with at least 4 airbags (driver, passenger and front sides) as standard along with a tyre pressure monitoring system. All Sonets from the HTX+ trim level upwards also get six airbags as standard.
The Sonet compact SUV also features two new colour options – Imperial Blue and Sparkling Silver – which replace the previous model year’s Intelligency Blue and Steel Silver. The Sonet has also ditched the Gold Beige colour. All models also get a redesigned SONET badge.
The 2022 Sonet now offers a host of features as standard on lower trim levels that were not present in the previous version of the SUV.
These include electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, brake assist and hill assist which are offered with the turbo petrol-powered iMT version of the SUV from the HTK+ variant onwards.
To get the same features on the diesel model, potential owners will have to go up a trim level to the HTX variant.
The HTE trim level and above versions of the Sonet also get semi-leatherette upholstery as an option.
The larger Kia Seltos SUV also gets a host of features as standard – 4 airbags, a tyre pressure management system, rear disc brakes, electronic stability control, brake assist, hill assist and vehicle stability management.
Six airbags are not standard fitment in the HTX+, GTX(O), GTX+ and X-Line variants. For the previous model year, 6 airbags were standard in only the GTX+ and top-spec X-line variants.
Other changes across the range include a retuned suspension setup for a suppler ride.
All automatic versions of the Seltos now get paddle shifters as standard. The HTK+ trim level in the diesel lineup is now available with Kia’s iMT clutchless manual gearbox. The new HTX diesel variant is offered with an automatic transmission option.
The lower-spec versions of the Seltos now get a newly designed wheel cover that features a Kia logo in the centre. The seats of the top-of-the-line X-line variants feature the name of trim level embroidered into the headrests. Like the Sonet, the Seltos also features a new logo that is more in line with Kia’s new design philosophy.
Thoughts On The New Kia Seltos & Sonet
The 2022 Kia Seltos & Sonet come with a host of feature upgrades across trim levels to make up for the price increase. These changes should ensure that Seltos and Sonet continue to stream out of the showrooms.
