Federal tax credits help immensely.
Barely one week since Hyundai revealed official EPA range figures for its all-new Ioniq 5 EV, has the South Korean automaker just announced official US pricing. First off, it’s important to know the Ioniq 5 is eligible for the $7,500 Federal Tax Incentive, at the very least. There could be more discounts depending on which state you live in.
So without further ado, the 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 carries a starting price tag of $39,700 for the SE Standard Range (220 miles) with 168 horsepower provided by the 58 kWh battery pack and rear-wheel-drive. Factor in the fed’s tax credit and the price drops to $32,200.
The delivery fee is $1,225 so you’re looking at a total of $33,425 all in. Not bad at all.
Moving up the trim range (Note: the following prices don’t have the tax credit nor the handling fee factored in), the $43,650 SE RWD comes with the more powerful 77.4 kWh battery. The AWD 320-hp SE, meaning a dual-motor, AWD setup starts at $47,150. The SEL RWD, SEL AWD begin at $45,900 and $50,600, respectively. The range-topping Limited RWD and Limited AWD carry prices of $50,600 and 54,500, respectively. With the sole exception of the SE Standard Range RWD, all other rear-motor, RWD trims have a 303-mile range. The AWD versions can travel up to 256 miles.
Regardless of which trim you get, all Ioniq 5s come standard with 800-volt, 350 kW ultra-fast charging, 19-inch aero wheels, a 12.3-inch touchscreen with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and unlimited 30-minute charging sessions for two years on the Electrify America national charging network. Some standard safety systems include smart cruise control, blind-spot and forward-collision avoidance assist, lane keep assist, and rear cross-traffic avoidance.
Something owners are certainly going to find to be most handy is the vehicle-to-load (V2L) function that literally turns the Ioniq 5 into a portable charger. It can provide much-needed juice for small appliances and even other EVs. Sales are due to get underway nationwide later this month.
