Honda has launched the 2022 CBR 650R in India at Rs 9.35 Lakh (ex-showroom), making it almost Rs 46 thousand dearer than the 2021 model launched here last year. The Honda CBR 650R is one of the few affordable, fully faired inline-four superbike available in India. Its closest rival is the Kawasaki Z900 (also an inline-four motorcycle) is almost Rs 85-90 thousand cheaper than the CBR 650R, but it is a naked motorcycle.
The CBR 650R may not be the quickest or the most powerful middleweight sportsbike available in the country, but it is one practical, daily usable, fully-faired sub 10 lakh rupee premium offering from the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer that you can own.
That said, here are five things that you should know about the 2022 Honda CBR 650R.
2022 Honda CBR 650R
- The 2022 CBR 650R hasn’t received any styling update, but it gets two new color schemes – Grand Prix Red and Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic. These color schemes look almost identical to what you have seen in the previous model, with a few updated graphics here and there.
- The 2022 CBR 650R still uses the same 648.72 cc, inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4 Stroke, SI Engine, that powered the 2021 model. The CBR 650R powertrain produces about 87.01 PS of peak power at 12,000 rpm and 57.5 Nm of peak torque at 8,500 rpm. The engine is paired to a six-speed gearbox. The CBR 650R gets a slipper and assist clutch as standard.
- The CBR 650R is one of the finest-looking fully-faired sportsbike. The middleweight sportsbike takes some of its styling inspiration from the old generation Fireblade. It even gets a RAM air intake positioned adjacent to the headlamps. The LCD digital instrument cluster may not be the most sophisticated unit but does the job of providing all the vital information to the rider including, (Dual Trip Meters, Digital Fuel Level Gauge & Fuel Consumption Gauge, Digital Clock, Water Temp, Gear position, Shift UP Indicator).

- The CBR 650R relies on non-adjustable SHOWA upside telescopic forks at the front and a 10 stage pre-load adjustable monoshock setup at the rear. The motorcycle relies on a dual 310 mm rotor with a four-piston caliper at the front and a 240 mm single rotor with a single-piston caliper at the rear for stopping.
It gets a Hollow-section 6-spoke cast-aluminum 17-inch wheels at both ends. A dual-channel ABS comes as standard with the motorcycle. Honda also offers traction control in the form of Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), which can be turned off, with a press of a button.
- The fully-faired CBR 650R gets a kerb weight of 208 kilograms. It is almost 12 kilograms heavier than the Kawasaki Ninja 650 but 4 kilograms lighter than the Street Naked Kawasaki Z900.
The 2022 CBR 650R is available only at Honda’s Bigwing showroom.
