One of this year’s most anticipated new model launches, the reborn Toyota Supra, is due to be unveiled in a few days at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. So far, the automaker has done a pretty good job of keeping the final design under wraps. Until today, that is, when someone at Toyota Mexico accidentally tweeted out a video of the Supra in action.
The tweet read “¡Llegó nuestro nuevo #Supra a Japón!, y esta es la historia que nos cuenta #AkioToyoda sobre su regreso.” Which according to google translate says “Our new #Supra arrived in Japan !, and this is the story that #AkioToyoda tells us about his return.”
The car in the video doesn’t look all that different from renderings which have been floating around for a while now. The Supra will be heavily based on the BMW Z4, including the base platform, but mechanical details have been scarce to date. Wheels.ca reported last Summer that in addition to the expected straight six, the Supra will also be available with a four banger.

Toyota’s press conference in Detroit is scheduled for 9:40 am on Monday.
