There are three variants of the locally assembled Civic facelift for sale i.e. Civic 1.8S, Civic 1.5TC and the range-topping Civic 1.5TC-P. The on-the-road prices (without insurance) are RM113,600, RM129,600 and RM139,600 respectively.
Engine output remains the same as the pre-facelift. The 1.8S is powered by a 1.8L normally aspirated SOHC engine with 141 PS and 174 Nm of torque, and the 1.5TC variants use a 1.5L turbocharged VTEC with 173 PS and 220 Nm of torque, which is equivalent to a 2.4L naturally aspirated engine’s performance. These engines are mated with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Honda Malaysia Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Toichi Ishiyama said, “In 2016, we revolutionised the C-segment when we introduced the 10th Generation Civic with a turbocharged engine, new stylish exterior design and first-in-segment features. With the launch of this innovative New Civic today which is equipped with the full suite of Honda SENSING and added advanced safety features, we are proud to further raise the benchmark in the segment. I believe that the New Civic is a complete car for C-segment buyers with its D-segment features.”
For the exterior, the new Civic gets updated with redesigned bumpers front and back. The 1.5TC-P variant stands out with a piano black wing front grille (as opposed to chrome). It also gets a trunk spoiler with integrated third brake lamp. The 1.5TC-P also gets new 18″ Black Alloy Wheels.
Inside, the Civic 1.5 variants get new leather seat accent design complementing features that are standard i.e. new Auto Front Wiper, 8-Way Driver Powered Seat, Remote Engine Start and Walk Away Auto Lock (these features are available in all variants). The new steering switch is also now aesthetically refined in looks and texture. Further, to maximize the cargo space the rear seats now have a 60:40 split with a lever in the boot to fold. Another notable feature in the cabin is the 7″ Advanced Display Audio head unit with physical buttons instead of a touch panel. Only the TC-P has a dual zone climate control while the others have single zone.
But standard across all variants are six airbags, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Agile Handle Assist (AHA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist (BA), Auto Brake Hold (ABH), new Front Sensors and rear seat ISOFIX.
The new Civic is also the first Japanese locally mass-produced C-segment model to be offered with the full suite of 8 Honda SENSING advanced safety features (for the TC-P variant only) i.e. Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low Speed Follow (LSF), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Auto High-Beam (AHB). Honda SENSING is Honda’s driver-assist solution towards achieving the dream of a collision-free society, ultimately ensuring road safety for everyone. With the introduction of this new Civic, Honda Malaysia now boasts a complete line-up of Honda SENSING models for C-segment and above, including the CR-V, all-new Accord and the Odyssey.
The new Civic now also comes with Honda LaneWatch for the turbo models, which is Honda’s camera-based safety technology that supplements the side mirror and enhances the side view while reducing blind spots for safer changing of lanes. It is also the only and first model in the segment to offer this.
Aside from the exterior colour options of Lunar Silver Metallic, White Orchid Pearl, Modern Steel Metallic and Crystal Black Pearl, the new Civic also adds a new colour i.e. Passion Red Pearl.
