VW has unveiled the new Tiguan Allspace, a more practical variant of their mid-size SUV.
The Allspace extends the body of the standard Tiguan by around 30cm, increasing the body to 4,723mm and creating ample extra packing room in the rear.
This new model offers a minimum of 700 litres of cargo space in seven-seater mode, and a maximum of 1,920 litres in five-seater mode.
It can also tow up to 2,500kg.
“After the major visual and technological update of the Tiguan, the Tiguan Allspace is now next in line – with a sharper look, digital cockpit, new technologies, new equipment matrix, and comprehensive connectivity,” said VW.
The new Tiguan Allspace sports the new-generation MIB3 infotainment system, which is linked to a wide range of online services through an eSIM and WeConnect.
Depending on the selected trim – Life, Elegance, or R-Line – the infotainment system will offer voice control, access to streaming services, cloud-based personalisation, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Options
The Elegance derivative is the mid-range option, and comes with chrome-plated interior and exterior elements, as well as 19-inch alloy wheels.
The R-Line, as the range-topping model, gets an R-Line-exclusive multifunction leather steering wheel, decorative trims in carbon grey, the digital cockpit pro, and 19 or 20-inch wheels as standard.
Optional equipment then includes a 16-speaker Harman/Kardon sound system, a trailer assist system, as well as ergoActive front seats with electric lumbar support and massage functionalities.
“All air conditioning, heating, and ventilation functions of the standard three-zone automatic air conditioner are operated via a new digitised module in the centre console,” said the company.
Touch panels and sliders replace the previous-generation’s knobs and buttons, too, and a full-colour heads-up-display projects driving-related information onto the windscreen.
Partly automated driving is also available through IQ.DRIVE Travel Assist, which can take over steering, braking, and acceleration from 0km/h for the automatic transmission versions, and 30km/h for manual variants.
“To do this, Travel Assist relies on familiar systems including Adaptive Cruise Control for longitudinal guidance, and Lane Assist for lateral guidance,” said VW.
