The KTM 390 Duke even dipped into the double digits recording all-time low sales figure
The Honda CB300R first came to India in 2019 and became an instant hit amongst people. Sure, it didn’t match up to the KTM 390 Duke in terms of outright performance or features but it made up for these things in terms of reliability, smoothness, and high-quality levels.
Thanks to this popularity, Honda re-introduced the CB300R here in India and it looks like the move has paid off as the Japanese naked has outsold its arch-rivals, the Bajaj Dominar 400 and the KTM 390 Duke.
Honda CB300R Outsells KTM 390 Duke & Bajaj Dominar 400
In a shocking turn of events, the BS6 Honda CB300R has outsold its arch-rivals, the KTM 390 Duke & the Bajaj Dominar 400
Honda sold 429 units of the BS6 CB300R while Bajaj managed to sell only 331 units, the latter suffering from a massive 65% YoY dip in sales.
The big shocker, though, was the KTM 390 Duke. Even though it’s still the most feature-packed and value-for-money naked in the sub-400cc segment, only 38 units of the bike were sold in February 2022, a massive 91% YoY dip compared to February 2021.
While the CB300R recorded 429 sales, the Dominar 400 only managed 339 units
Along with its rivals, the Honda CB300R also managed to outsell bikes like the Kawasaki Ninja 300, TVS Apache RR 310, and the Suzuki Gixxer 250.
What’s more surprising is that this has happened despite Honda bumping up the CB300R’s price tag to Rs 2.77 lakh (ex-showroom Gurugram) from its older Rs 2.41 lakh price tag, even though the bike remains mostly unchanged.
Honda CB300R Specs & Details
Coming to the bike, the BS6 Honda CB300R carries forward the same 286cc, single-cylinder engine which has been tweaked to make 31.1PS and 27.45Nm, 0.7PS more than its BS4 iteration.
Additionally, the engine now comes equipped with a slipper clutch which should make the package even more suitable for aggressive as well as city riding.

Meanwhile, other changes on the bike include a golden finish on the USD forks, darker painted fuel tank extensions, and a redesigned exhaust system.
None of these changes justify the extra moolah, though, especially when you consider the bike is now heavily localized.
Nevertheless, it’s good to see that the CB300R is finally showing what it can do in the Indian market by outselling some big and dominant names.
