Tata Motors has revealed the launch date for the dual-clutch transmission equipped Altroz DCA hatchback. The invites for the Tata Altroz DCA launch reveal that the new variant of the premium hatchback will be launched on the 21st of March.
The ‘DCA’ in the Tata Altroz DCA’s name stands for ‘Dual Clutch Automatic’ and the Indian carmaker will be offering the new 7-speed transmission exclusively with the naturally aspirated petrol-powered version of the hatchback.
The naturally aspirated petrol version of the Tata Altroz draws its power from a 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine that produces 85bhp and 113Nm of torque when paired with its current manual transmission option.
Whether these figures change with the arrival of the dual-clutch automatic transmission on the Altroz DCA is something we’ll only be able to tell when the car arrives on the 21st of March.
Tata Motors recently started accepting bookings for the Altroz DCA. Dealerships have already started accepting bookings for the automatic Altroz earlier this month for a token amount of Rs 21,000.
The new Altroz DCA is expected to feature a slightly larger touchscreen display. The DCA version of the Altroz will also mark the debut of a new shade of blue dubbed ‘Opera Blue’ as a colour choice for Tata’s premium hatchback as seen on the teaser image for the launch.
The all-new 7-speed dual-clutch transmission will be offered with the XT, XZ, XZ+, and Dark Edition variants of the Altroz. Apart from the larger touchscreen (all thanks to a narrower bezel), the DCA versions of the Altroz aren’t expected to add any more features to the standard equipment list.
So expect the usual array of connected car tech along with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support along with a host of safety gubbins (multiple airbags and more), cruise control and automatic climate control.
Apart from the usual equipment list, the Black Edition versions of the Altroz will as always feature blacked-out exteriors and interiors for those looking for a more stealthy version of Tata’s premium hatchback.
The new DCA version of the Altroz variants are expected to be priced at a small premium over and above their manual transmission siblings. While Tata did test the DCA transmission with the more powerful turbocharged version of the petrol Altroz, the high cost of the combination saw the company instead opt for the naturally aspirated variant of the hatchback.

Thoughts On Tata’s Upcoming Altroz DCA
The Tata Altroz DCA will see the Indian carmaker finally offer an automatic gearbox option for its premium hatchback. If Tata keeps the pricing aggressive as they have in the past, then the Altroz DCA may very well be an option many Indian car buyers opt for in the future.
