Musk is expecting to sell between 250,000 to 500,000 units per year, depending on the demand.
Four years have passed since the reveal of the Tesla Cybertruck, where the infamous “smashed windows” incident happened. Finally, after two years of delay, Tesla has officially rolled out the first production model of the all-electric pickup truck at its factory in Texas.
The news was shared by Tesla on its Twitter account with the caption, “First Cybertruck built at Giga Texas!” Aside from that, the EV marker didn't reveal much information, such as the final specifications and pricing. We know that Musk promised last year that deliveries would begin in mid-2023.

During the long absence from the spotlight, the all-electric pickup market has seen new contenders, including the Ford F-150 Lightning and GMC Hummer EV. Although, the latter is still facing supply woes due to a shortage of crucial components such as microchips amid strong demands.
EV startup company Rivian has also joined the fray with the R1T. According to the JD Power 2023 US Electric Vehicle Experience (EVX) Ownership Study, the Rivian R1T has bested the likes of the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y regarding ownership satisfaction in the premium EV segment.

All the said EV trucks will gain access to Tesla's 12,000 Superchargers in the US and Canada by 2024. The models are expected to adopt Tesla's North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector a year later. Another brand jumping on the NACS bandwagon is Volvo, along with its performance brand, Polestar.
However, Musk is optimistic about the Cybertruck, saying the vehicle could sell between 250,000 and 500,000 units per year, depending on the demand. Reports also suggest that the truck has over 1.5 million pre-orders. Some Analysts, however, think the model may turn out to be a low-volume seller despite the long pre-order list.
As such, it would be interesting to see how the ambitious-looking Cybertruck will make up for lost time.
